  • I drove Chusckwalla for the first time....

I think I was expecting to much form this track after hearing how great it is. I heard it's much like ButtonWillow or Spring Mt. I really don't think it's anything like Buttonwillow at all. It's much more like the short circuit at Sprint Mt. Lot's of flowing turns that fit together very well. Nice track surface too. Let's hope they keep it that way as the years roll on. I actually felt that this track was a little to slow. It needed a good high speed section. I'll need to drive it some more, but right now I prefer Buttonwillow and Spring Mt over this track.

Here is a video form last weekends event:

Ive never been to spring mountain, but I prefer BW also. That being said, CVR is definitely my second favorite SoCal track. It's just fun.

Buttonwillow is a dried up old turd.

      2006 Porsche 997 Carerra Coupe 6-MT - daily driver
1992 Honda (Acura) NSX 5-MT - classic investment I couldn't resist and occasionally drive
2004 Honda S2000 AP2 6-MT - my last track day car (FOR SALE or not, depending on how I feel when I fall out of bed tomorrow morning)
2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR 6-MT - when I need a backseat, 4-doors, or a real trunk, and still want to haul ass . . .

Aside from their cost I never understood why people race them.

Agree SM is very nice too but I can do Chuckwalla for day from San Diego and not have to waste a night at a hotel.

Clockwise is mostly increasing radius turns.
It is the up hill direction.
                  Better track visibility.
Lap times a little slower this direction.

Counter clockwise is mostly decreasing radius turns.
                  It's considered the downhill direction.
Track visibility is less, creates a few longer linked turns with blind
                  apexes.
Lap times appear to be a little quicker this direction.

CVR seems like a perfect track to learn the "how much throttle should I give to corner the fastest" method that Emilio mentioned in some other thread. I haven't been yet though.

Also a great track for suspension set up as well. My car is as loose as it gets and I still found some places where I pushed. Oh, and this track was super fun in a FWD car too. Although FWD's need lots of bar on this track.
