  • Cage mods and more....

Here is some of the latest handy work from Moti (BlackBird FabWorx) on
Tetanus. He removed the "Knee" bar (Bitterman does not have any knees) and
added a dash bar and "front legs" to tie in each side of the car. This included
removing and building a new steering column mount along with a new mount
    for the AMB IT unit.

But the best part is how clean the install came out for the
new "Shields" lexan windshield, it looks OEM with the black highlights and
has delrin spacers are to bring the new windshield to the same height as OEM, most
installations that you see don't have those and than the windshield looks sunken into the frame.

Out back he added an additional diagonal support brace and a really nice harness bar for the
belts. With quality work like this it’s just like Tetanus Vaccine for the car....

Was that originally a 7's Only cage? I have a knee bar too.

I like the windshield install, very clean. Maybe I should add that to my seat install . . .

Not sure who did the cage on Tetanus originally, but it certainly leaves the impression that no one really gave a damn about how it turned out.
The welds are okay for the most, but the design is mediocre at best... and even that is too kind.

Putting 2 different cages in that fright pig is the height of stupidity . . .

Thanks for such high praise;-) not all of us can have a real race car FM, if we plan to stay married. I seem to remember a black 94 miata in your past that was a bit rough around the edges...FYI it's not two cages it's just an update to the current cage with props to Moti....

Not two cages, just a few small updates that make Grant's life much safer -

Knee (breaker) bar was replaced with a dash bar
Crappy steering column mount was replaced with one that doesn't flex side to side (or at all really..)
"Collapsible" harness bar was replaced with one that will stay there, imagine that
Added 8th mounting point at firewall
Added offset diagonal to main hoop

All the above took less than a day of work and some $50 in materials, so not a ton of work or money spent, but a serious boost for safety and rigidity.
Good call IMO even without being the one that does the work..

Great to see the cage getting some improvements Grant. And I think that's the nicest looking lexan window install I've seen.

Bitterman did confirm 7's Only cage, what were they thinking with the knee bar?
