I managed to kill them at BW this weekend. They may have slightly lost grip before they completely went, but the big drop was due to cording at the inner and outer edges (I need both more and less camber). They died a few laps into the 10th session they saw. The fall-off before they corded was no where near as severe as you get with A6 or C71 compounds.
    Hey Gordon,

When you say 10 sessions what do you mean?

Is sessions each run group you go out in? and how many laps of the track for each session?

How do lap times compare to the R6, A6?

    Thanks
    Mark

"Session" is one run group. The total time on-track was probably 2 - 2.5 hours, as some of the sessions were really short (go out, get a time, pat self on back).

A bit slower than the A6, probably a second. Unless you need 3 laps to get a good time, and then much faster than the A6 which seems to die after a couple of laps of flogging. Faster than the R6, but in my experience the NT01 was also faster than the R6 if only by a smidge.

And congrats to Zhong, a 22.X is smoking in a boat like yours

How many sessions were you getting from your NT01?

50%-100% more, from tires that cost 50% less.

I have about 15 sessions on my current set of NT01's and still going strong. Love these tires.

^^^ I ran a track day at Buttonwillow last Sat. in my NSX. It has NT-01 on it. The outside tires were almost new, but the inside tires were very worn, and I had another worn front and back to replace the insides if I had to. But the ones on the inside of the car lasted the whole day easily, and I think I get another track day out of the 4 worn ones on the inside wheels. Great tires. I've been using them for over 5 years now, maybe 6.

hehe, I appreciate the nice words Gordon. I can really really feel the weight in skidpad, end of the bowl, T3 sweeper. Sooo much understeer. I want to go through there 10mph faster and it won't let me. hahaha. Honestly there is still a good 5/10ths on the table as is. If the weather is an extra 20-30F cooler, probably another 5/10ths on table. High 1:21s are definitely doable. Didn't even have my splitter on, which would help rotation tremendously to balance my unbalanced aero setup currently (huge rear wing on lowest angle).

    Thanks Gordon,

That is interesting about the R6 and NT01.

I like the NT01 as well, I ran RA1's for years. Very similar performance.

Have you ever run the BFG R1? I have heard that BFG has continually improved the tire and have heard from guys that race SCCA on A6's for a long time that they have run very close but slightly faster times on the newest BFG R1.

    Thanks

I want to say congrats to Zhong also damn good time especially since the car is understeering. Great job!
