Default Streets of Willow in an MRS 1:26.30

First time at SOW with my new GTC300 wing. It was surprisingly effective and made the car push through the esses whereas before oversteer was the story. My top speeds remained about the same as before the wing, 91 mph on the main strait and 101 mph on the back strait leading into the chicane. I can do the chicane WOT now. As my braking point begins on corner entry, there is no way I could accomplish a WOT chicane without the wing.

I was expecting a lower lap time, but I am not disappointed. It appears my suspension is now beyond shot. The bouncing ride interfered with my braking points, and also on acceleration into the main strait. It was so bad that I could not make out the road clearly going through the chicane. I may as well have been driving at night!

I will probably drop at least one second from my time once I install coil-overs that function well. I will probably also corner balance the car and use a pyrometer to set up a proper alignment so that I can actually make use of my RS3s; at the moment, I consistently pull less than 1g with them, which I believe to be under par.

    Comments, criticism, etc is welcome.

    Hmm,

Interesting. What kind of lap times will that car run with good suspension, race tires and a 2zz?

    -4 with slicks?
    -2 with 2zz?
    -1 with working suspension.

So, very low 20s according my ricer math.

Cosmin was too busy scaring passengers to put down fast laps.

Yea, I can't keep up anymore.

edit: my personal best at SOW is 1:26.5 IIRC. I think I was about 2 seconds off pace yesterday, but I wasn't timing.

Why does TrackHQ suddenly become stingy with criticism only when I am asking for it?

sub-1g sounds pretty awful. So low that I'd be suspecting the measuring system.

I seem to be hearing a bit of wheelspin in the slow turns - does that thing have an LSD and if so is it worn out?

You seemed to be having fun out there. This is good.

It is an open diff. It makes me feel like a hero, spinning that inside tire coming out of slower corners. I am measuring G's with my android, so it's entirely possible that the readings are not accurate. Thanks for you input regarding that.

Phone accelerometers are pretty worthless. I compared when i first got my g2x and the readings are very unreliable. Time to pick up a real datalogger!

Either that or the G2X is worthless. They are in bankruptcy after all.

The camera vibration at high speeds make my eyes feel funny. What mount are you using?

GoPro roll bar mount and NOTHING ELSE. I even used rubber bands on the camera to stabilize it in its case and tightened everything down with a screw driver. I will never be purchasing another gopro again. I am going to try to rig up my own mount to the rollbar using worm clamps.

When you swapped the springs out did you also switch the shocks. I bet switching front and rear shocks would reduce that bouncing.

The shocks all stayed on their respective ends of the car when I swapped springs. Front shocks stayed in the front, and rear shocks in the rear. So, you think the front shocks may be less shot? Or, are you saying they are valved differently?
