This gave me an idea for a couple of new products for rotaries - an automatic kitty litter dispenser wired to the knock sensor for when things go kaboom, and a magnetic ring to install in the downpipe to catch apex seals before they litter the track.

Shouldn't be an issue for the typical Miata driver surely? By the time you guys eventually do complete a full lap of the track a safety worker will have cleaned it all up and perhaps even have repaved the area along with new painted lines.

It could be a problem if the Miata was directly behind though.

I think the ACS lap record for a turbo Miata is about a 1:45. My normally aspirated Miata on 205/50/15 DOT tires did 1:51's in pretty much the same config it won the 25. I wonder how much faster production unit body (not tube framed or monocoque) RX7's go?

Aside from their cost I never understood why people race them.

The fastest I am aware of is Jack Mardikian's car which has been around there at 1:41 speed with a turbo 13B @ 400whp or so. He seemed confident he could match GT3 Cup times, which are high 1:30's.

Wow, that would be 12 full seconds than my 170whp car on 205's, a blur flashing by me.
I imagine I could actually catch a glimpse towards the end of the 20 minute session as the marshals were putting it out and my car was just coming up to temp.

You could probably catch it via freeze frame or slow mo from your gopro too. Just keep your hairdressing supplies out of the shot.

So much wasted potential with the FD.
Great chassis and suspension, good aero, man brakes and man sized tires fit, decent diff and more... and of course they had to go and F it up with that engine and everything associated with it, WTF Mazda..

I was running TT at Sonoma this weekend with an FD with an LS7. 575 whp, 345 rear A6's, and I think around 2700 lbs. Pretty sweet car.

Would be great to repeat the format we did @ BRP -
Use the MC session as quali for Saturday race and invert the grid for Sunday's first super-sprint race, followed immediately by another inverted grid super-spring standing start race.

It was fun, quick and exciting to watch and participate in, which is why the balcony was completely packed.

Sorry too many pages to read through, so for the people who arent part of this, is the schedule for the supermiata group still being worked out? Will you guys have 1 race, or race both days?

    cliff note:

35 minutes race session on Saturday - 9 SPM
20 minutes race session on Sunday - 6 SPM
35 minutes race sessions on Sunday - 7 SPM

and yes, there will be cars to rent. a local Vette Trackhq'er rented one for the Saturday race.

races were organized by BMWCCA. They had ~10 cars on Saturday, ~7-8 cars on Sunday. it was pleasant to run with the BMW group. The slowest BMWs were couple of seconds faster than SuperMiata. so BMW's had their own races, we had our own.....

    More cliff notes:

Last Red group session of Sunday - 2 SPM race, muaahahhaha!

The vette driver that rented a car for Saturdays race was allowed to run without shaving his chest, but had to take the gold chains off.
In case he would want to keep participating in SPM he will have to comply with the regulations and have his chest shaved.

Emilio told me that shaving your chest was good for at least a second at ACS.

Unrelated.....my chest is itchy as hell today.
