Bummer. SMMP is a little narrow but should be a blast to go W2W at.

I'm thinking we should run green. Easier to stay together, practice drafting and stuff without clogging up the front straight for the high power cars in red.
Suggest enter early in green so we don't have to split into 2-3 run groups

Anyway way to sign up through the cheaper SevenStock event and still do SPM and MC?
Any advantage to scrubbing these RC-1s and letting them sit for a couple weeks?

When do you plan to have the next 949 swap meet? 26 or 27 OCT or? Maybe we could all learn see what is needed for these front air damn deals? I want to be able to have some thing I can remove and install by one person in less than a minute. It needs to be durable and not weight a ton, Just like a an F1 pit stop baby...

So if some redesign needs to be done? Maybe Moti can help with a low cost kit, his work is always top notch, maybe they could be interchangeable from car to car? NA to NA, even better NA to NB...

Cutting a piece of ABS and screwing it to the bumper skin with sheet metal screws is cake. Making one look nice, integrating it with an undertray, making both quickly removable while still sturdy, ducting the opening, etc. adds to the complexity/time involved in building it. Really, the making it quickly removable part is the most complicated, but my BFW splitter and airdam come off in <30 seconds start to finish, so it's definitely worth it IMO to contact Moti to get set up with one.

As they say with building a car: cheap, fast, reliable - pick two, you can't have all three...
The same goes here: cheap, quickly removable, strong - pick two.

I think you guys are overthinking it..
it really don't have to be strong. it is pliable and strong enough to survive forever. even if not, just cut another piece up for the cheap.

*btw, I presume you guys are talking about just the front piece...

I'm talking about an airdam + flat undertray that extends from the bottom of the airdam to the front of the subframe - which is what you want, and all of it removeable in less than a minute for loading, servicing, repairing, inspecting, etc... as I said, cutting a piece of ABS and screwing it onto the front bumper is a piece of cake.
And strong is important, even for just the airdam - that stuff flexes a lot. If you make it so it is supported and can hold its shape at 130 mph, it will perform better.

It's not so much overthinking it, it's more just the difference between sufficient and ideal.

    This.

I'm always surprised at how many people want blueprints of our undertrays as if it's something exotic or difficult to fabricate. It's a piece of wood stuck in the front subframe with two cables holding it in place. The air dam is a piece of plastic screwed onto the nose. That's it. Never two alike, no blueprints. Anything fancier than that is up to your individual ingenuity and patience.

Start with the plastic sheet on the nose to determine where the leading edge will be. Cut a piece of 1/4" or 3/8" plywood (birch is a bit stiffer) to cover up everything but the tires swinging around. Leave a "tongue"
of wood to wedge into the subframe between the steering rack mounts. Hang a few cables from somewhere down to the undertray to support it. I think that's it.

Cables and clamping/crimping hardware can also be found at Home Depot Motorsports.
