Default Feb 18-19 2017 AROSC Time Trial and Race, the Big Track Willow Springs

    Join Us Feb. 18th-19th

at the Alan Ward Memorial Time Trial & Race

The AROSC/Alfa Club February 18th-19th track event at Willow Springs International Raceway will honor the memory of our friend Alan Ward on Saturday with an Alfa Romeo only Race Group and an Alfa only Time Trial Group. Don't worry we will have our usual Race and Time Trial groups.

At midday on Saturday we will have a 30 minute Lunch Time Track Drive for ALL OF US. To participate in the Track Drive you will need: one car, any make; one driver; and $20.

If you are not a competition driver, come on out to see real Alfa Romeos on the track and at lunch time you can drive on the same track. After that, try one of the great sandwiches they make at the Paddock Diner. There is indoor seating available. Or, feel free bring your own picnic lunch. No alcohol is allowed while we are using the track.

As usual on Saturday evening some refreshments will be available courtesy of Oak Hills Brewing Company, Hesperia Calif., “The official free beer supplier for the AROSC Competition Group”.

Come on out and celebrate with us. More information and registration are at https://www.motorsportreg.com/events...ng-hpde-842914

Well this is going to be a great Alfa Romeo event. As of Feb we have 23 Alfa Romeos registered with 1 or 2 more getting around to it. We have Alfisti flying in just to be there, people are hauling cars down from the SF Bay Area.
There will be an Alfa Cup race Saturday at 3pm with maybe 14-15 Alfas. Alfas will practice in the Alfa run group. They will practice and race on Sunday same schedule
Afterward some of us, really anybody who wants to come along, will gather at "that Mexican place out by Rosamond AirPark" now called El Indio to share a few drinks and more memories of Alan.
So everybody come on out and enjoy a great weekend of time trials and racing. Hey, there is free beer Saturday evening!!
And for those of you who are not of "AARP age" yet come out and listen to some stories of a guy who back in the 1960s was not happy with how his Alfa handled. So he started winding springs and bending sway bars and making some other handling parts. After a few years it turned into a nice side business for Alan Ward and his buddy Donald Deane. If you had a Ward and Deane setup you had a fast Alfa.
A little more info is found on the alfabb: Alan Ward - Alfa Romeo Bulletin Board & Forums
With all this Alfa interest we will keep the area around the Hartman Garage reserved for Alfa Romeos. This makes a nice chance to see the cars.
So come on people get registered.
A bonus came our way this afternoon Feb 14. Hunter Alfa Romeo of Lancaster CA has committed to bringing 3 new Alfa Romeos; 2 of the Giulia TI and a new 4C. The Giulia will also be the pace car for the Alan Ward Memorial Alfa Cup race on Saturday. So on your way out to the track stop by Hunter Alfa Romeo Fiat in Lancaster and pick up a new Giulia or a 4C. They are Freeway Close.
Here are the Alfa Romeos registered as of Feb 15
    1955 Giulietta Sprin
    1960 Giulietta
    1965 GTV
    1965 GTA
    1966 Giulia Sprint
    1966 Giulia GT Veloce
    1966 Giulia Sprint V
    1967 Duetto
    1967 GT 1300 Junior
    1967 GTV
    1967 Giulia Super
    1967 sprint gt veloce
    1967 Giulia Super
    1967 GTV
    1967 GT Junior
    1968 GT Jr.
    1971 GTV
    1973 GTV
    1974 GTV
    1976 Alfetta GT
    2015 4C
    2016 4C
    2016 4C

OMG 3 newish Alfas on the track, in competition. This is just like "back in the day" when this sight was not unusual.

There are few more Alfas that have signed up. There is plenty of space at this event for everyone, remember that we allow more than just an Alfa. You have a Mustang, a Yugo, or even a formula car, you can register HERE.

    See you at the track.

There is some room left. Even though the weather calls for some rain it will still be a great weekend, put on the rain tires and come out and have a good time. Rumor has it that a local Alfa Dealership will be at this event with some new cars to show off. I don't know many of the details but I know that what ever they bring will be worth a look. We are also going to have a couple memorial events this weekend, the Alan Ward memorial race is going to be pretty cool, where else are you going to see 10-15+ older Alfas on the track racing fender to fender at the same time. We are also doing a special memorial for Billy of Wampler flagging. For those of you that never met Billy, he was our primary flag crew at all our events at Willow, he passed toward the end of last year and will be missed by all.

    See you at the track.

Alfas at an Alfa event. Go figure.
Yes we will have 5 of the latest Alfa Romeos at the track this weekend. 2 of the 4Cs will be entered.
In addition we have met up with some pretty nice people from Hunter Alfa Romeo in Lancaster. HUNTERALFAROMEO.COM
    They insisted that
they bring 2 of the new Giulia TIs and also 1 new 4C.
One of the Giulias will be the pace car for the 3pm Alan Ward Memorial Alfa Cup Race.
So come on by the Alfa Romeo Corral and look at some new Alfas and look at where their DNA comes from.

Just checked the weather and this is what we have:

Friday drive up will be raining
Saturday will be partly cloudy 56/43
Sunday will be partly cloudy 59/46

No need for rain tires now.

    See you at the track.
