I'm going to have a talk with Frank tomorrow morning about computer usage when I'm out of the shop...

When it's done I see a race with this one.

That would be unfair to CCRunner's build, his car was never meant to be a hard core track car and was built with the focus of street usage.
Garm's car is closer to a track day special and has a lot more going on in the go-fast department.

We've had this project on the back burner for a bit, busy with other builds and day to day orders.
I'll start a thread for the NSU EV we're building, it's a pure street car but has some fun fabrication details.

As it turns out, I forgot I had this build log going here and skipped on updating it lately... but worry not my friends, here are some of the latest and greatest!
Finished the cooling system plumbing and exhaust system.
Coolant pipes are all hard lines, bend to shape and bead rolled, we're just waiting for the specific rubber couplers we bought for the car -

Exhaust sys was very tricky because of the tight space constraints.
We wanted to make sure we build the header with equal length primaries and secondaries which made it even trickier, but the end it all worked out with some creative use of the space -

More to come soon, we're have a bunch of parts on order for the fuel system and at the rate things are going it won't be much longer before we can fire up this baby

Awesome pipe porn! What even gives birth to a project like this? Why that chassis in particular? It's like flat-faced dogs, I don't get it, but they are kind of cool in their own ugly way. If I were to fall into a pt of money, I'd put an LS motor in a MR2 just because I could.

A dream or a vision, and money.

If you looking for a way to make sense of this, there isn't.
It's a one off project for fun and games, not to hit a certain lap time target, or be most __________________ (insert a common goal here).
It's going to be a total riot to drive and fast enough to plaster a stupid grin on the driver's face at any given time.

I think the same of the MR-S, funny enough... Ugly, but some cool race cars were made out of them.
Honestly, we have some nice builds coming and going through the shop, if there's a car that gives me a "fabricator envy" it's this one.

If it had to be the MR-S I'd go for a JGTC replica well before any LS swap, but honestly, I can think of a hundred other projects I'd like to do well before that.
Something like a Porsche 962 or a Lancia 037 replica would probably top my list.

I had the chance to see this last month and "insane" was the term that came to mind. And not just a little crazy, we're talking full on, Group B at Pikes Peak crazy!

I totally want to drive it when it's done!!!!!!

The MR-S is tragically ugly. It's "fall down 10 flights of stairs coated with shards of glass" ugly. I just can't think of a more affordable mid-engine chassis that has good dimensions or quality, so... MR-S it is. Or, was. I'll return to the platform eventually.
