Default Audi TT-RS build for #allthespeed - 1/2 mile / mile drag car!

    ...And now, something completely different

We recently finished this build and seeing that I haven't really been posting much lately, I thought I'd share this unique build -

This Audi TT-RS came in for a complete safety upgrade and a safety upgrade it received.
The car is a hybrid Steel / Aluminum chassis, meaning the front 2/3rds of the car are Aluminum and the rear 1/3rd is Steel... This made it right about the same amount of pain in the butt as any other Aluminum chassis car, where the Steel cage needs to be bolted in as opposed to welded.
So what did we do - 12 point cage with integrated seat mounts, all the usual equipment (seats, harnesses, nets for both sides etc..), fire sys, fuel cell, Lexan windows, parachute and a custom 3 piece long tail.
Many hours of work went into this build.

Starting with the most visible fabricated part, the long tail is all Aluminum construction.
The center was made in separate from the 2 side pieces so that the trunk is still operable, we wanted to maintain quick access in order to be able to fuel the car seeing that the access is in the trunk -

As usual, we kept an eye on finishing the pieces nicely.
The top surface was vinyl wrapped in metallic Black to match the paint of the car while the end plates were powder coated Silver and all the bracing at the back was powder coated high gloss Black.
The Gurney flap on the tail was made adjustable -

Inside the car it's all business with a well triangulated cage made symmetrical for those brave souls that want to be on board when the owner of the car unleashes the fury of a 5 cyl / 10K RPM / 1300 HP beast of an engine -

The parachute is cable operated from the lever that you can see by the shifter -

Note fire bottle location is nice and low, right behind the passenger seat.
The bracing behind the Lexan windshield prevents it from caving in when the wind hits it at 220 MPH which the owner is expecting it to run at the 1/2 mile -

Fuel cell is located behind the rear subframe and is sealed from the driver compartment with a hinged door for quick filling access -

The car went home this morning with a very happy owner and I can't wait to see the videos of this this ripping!
I'll post them when we get them in

    Enjoy!

    I am patiently awaiting videos.
According to everything I've heard, the car is a total animal that ran with the old (lower spec) engine a sub-10 1/4 mile and a near 200 MPH 1/2 mile.

Don't lie, how many unnecessary times did you pull the parachute lever?

Replace "success" with "fun" and you get a more realistic picture.
I enjoy the finished product and it certainly is fun to share it with other enthusiasts, but for the most that is all you get to see.

I'd like to drive that back and forth past the New Seasons Market that just opened for the express purposes of annoying all the enviromentalists around here.

There must be something wrong with us Audi folks. Now Moti knows what to do with my car, except for the parachute. Hank at Iroz Motorsports can do amazing things with Audi 5 cylinder motors.
