    Resurrecting an old thread.

I haven't used in car radio before, looking at a solution which won't cost a fortune.

If I get decent 2 way radios min 5watt, does anyone know of any generic PTT headsets that can be used with them?
    Thanks.

It works but not 100% of the time, all depends on the track and the sort of sight-line obstructions there are. Get good in-car and helmet cabling so when you have the budget to upgrade to 'real racing radios' all you need to do is get the correct jumper cable from radio to car harness and you golden.

I recommend Midland radios from ProBass Shop or Fry's for about $100 and one Weekend-Racer.com Radio Starter Kits (everything you need minus the radio). IM me if you need help with the options.

I've bought my radio from Sampson, great vendor. great onsite support.
Mueller is also a great vendor.
not saying it because both are Trackhq supporting vendors. They really are both top vendors in the field.

that said, please do remember radio really is a black art. if you watch F1, you will know that even with $500 million / year budget, they still can't get radio work 100% of the time.

Thanks guys, appreciated. John I have bought some gear from you in the past, and William I have seen Sampsons kits but their starting price is high...ish.

John will check those out thanks.
