The good part of that is that 949 is racing with SCCA . . . they haven't disappeared.

We may take our team to T25 again. We just have no need nor interest in any of their programs the rest of the year.
Interesting that the T25 grid was far from full, just as last year.

For the time being, I'm focused on growing SuperMiata. We have more fun per dollar doing SPM than any other form of racing we have ever, collectively been involved in.
Last time I checked, fun is reason #1 why everyone on this forum pulls a helmet on and rolls out of pit lane.

Aside from their cost I never understood why people race them.

The miata ran out of gas around 8 pm and was rear ended by one of the 2 diesel Mazda 6 cars. Very hard hit that basically took out most of the back driver's side of the miata. Miata driver was life flighted off track and other driver left in an ambulance. Nothing life threatening I've heard. I had a close call with one of the DP type cars coming into T10. It was going about 10 mph with no lights. Luckily I spotted it before rear ending it. The T25 may be one of the only endurance night races without a lit track relying solely on the lighting from the cars other than on the front straight.

Yikes. We were talking about this over lunch. Decided to add an auxiliary lighting system for any future enduro car with it's own protected power sources. Just some small blinking LED lights on all 4 corners that come on any time the car is stationary. As might happen if the driver crashed and spun back onto the racing line unconscious, or ran out of gas and parked in a bad spot.

One simple fix would be requiring all running a battery powered blinking LED front and rear like a bicycle.

Or require to run lighted car numbers powered by its own battery.

Still a tech violation, but gotta be easier to trigger some AAA battery lights off of main power loss than decide if a car is moving.

When my car ran T25 couple of years ago. I had one of those rear mounted bicycle led. Just in case rear light bulbs in the car dies.

Sucks if your alternator decides to **** itself at night on track.

It seems like a handful of strategically placed big light poles would go a long way towards increasing the safety of everyone on track.
Might not be enough to really light up the track, but should be enough to allow spotting of a stalled vehicle much earlier and give driver's more time to adjust their reaction.
Also, a few reflective decals on the car might help spotting a stalled car as well, and those are as reliable as it gets.

Yeah, I think the Catfish had a real estate disagreement with some car that was parked on the racing line with no lights.
Can't remember if OJR was driving or team mate.

OJR. Flag (light) came on just as OJR passed the station and stationary car was arrived upon. A blinking light on top of the stationary car might have given OJR that 500ms he needed to gain another 15" or so of offset to avoid collision.

The logic of powering the warning light when main power is cut has a flaw though. Say main power isn't cut but light on the exposed side of the car are smashed due to impact. Or may they are too low, as was the case with OJR's shunt. Maybe the blinky powers up in either condition, car stationary or main power cut. I'd want one on top of the car and on each corner. Probably no bigger than the led bicycle lights William mentioned. 1w , maybe 100 lumens, red.

someone should design a GPS LED light, that comes on when <25MPH, can be annoying bright.
not only for emergency, but for those pesky pit lane speed limit. if it doesn't come on, you are busted for pit lane speeding !!
