    ask and ye shall receive...

not to mention one of my favorite team names...

btw, we were there with folks running a big streamliner and the engine they use (5 liter turbo V8 making 2200hp) costs 100 grand and is typically good for 4 runs total. So definitely not a Burgoon budget style of racing

Probably depends on the class. Bet I could cherry pick a class and get a record for $15K.

I have the SCTA rulebook, and there are a lot of classes, but I don't think they total 400. I want to build a Bonneville car one of these days. I'm thinking a three-rotor motor imported from Canada in something zoom-zoomy.

There is definitely room for innovation.

    Thought exercise:
NA with a C38-94 Rotrex running E85 and about 400whp.
    Custom 3.1 gears
    Quaife 5 speed
    Lots of streamlining aero bits
    Try to break 200mph

I wonder if using 23 year old tub helps it in classing at all?

Man they are old school. No .pdf. You actually have to buy a $10 paper rule book.

Aside from their cost I never understood why people race them.

I went out to El Mirage dry lake once to shoot for fun and profit. There were some really cool machines out there, and dust like you wouldn't believe.

Any questions about why it's called El Mirage were answered right when I arrived.

This car had a OHV cylinder head on the right cylinder bank and a flathead on the left. I have no idea how it ran or why they would build it that way, but they added a giant turbo to feed it.

400 was a joke to imply a ton of them

It's value added: "As seen in GRM and Sports Car magazines." Pfff.
