Default Rubens Barrichello testing with IndyCar team

Hey America, Are You Ready to Rumble With Rubens?

He hasn’t said “yes,” at least not yet. But from all appearances, Formula 1 veteran and fan favorite Rubens Barrichello will be joining IndyCar’s ranks this season. Having spent three days testing KV Racing Technology’s new Dallara DW12-Chevrolet at Sebring, the 39-year-old Brazilian was partnered team regulars E.J. Viso and fellow countryman Tony Kanaan, who is said to have initiated the effort to draft Rubens. With 11 F1 wins, Barrichello is arguably the most seasoned driver in Grand Prix racing with a record 326 starts. But with no seat for the 2012 season, IndyCar seemed like a tempting option for a driver who loves to race. One hitch: Barrichello’s reluctance to compete on circle tracks, an issue which may be skirted should team owners, Kevin Kalkhoven and Jimmy Vasser allow Rubens to skip races at ovals in California, Iowa and Texas, but probably not at Indianapolis.

His F1 career is pretty much over, so it's not a bad move for Barichello.

Rubens will be missed (1994-2011). Its too bad he never won a championship, he definitely deserved one after 17 years in F1. Well Rubens was Schumachers teammate from 2000-2005 (6 years). That was his shot at the championship. Rubens came in 3rd in 2003 and runner-up in 2004 for Driver's Championship. So close...

Refresh my memory, how does being consistently beaten by your teammates earn you an F1 WDC again?

Hey, Rubens beat Hamliton, Button, and Schumacher (I think) and, most notably, he beat the Stig driving the "moderately priced sedan" on Top Gear. Shouldn't he get a ribbon or a gift certificate or something . . . . .
