Default Onboard video from the AAR Delta Wing car at Buttonwillow

I wonder why they didn't go over Phil Hill?

^^^ Maybe no one told them that the penalty for running any config. besides 13-CW is death by firing squad.

I was thinking it was because the bottom of the car would rub and lift the front and rear wheels off the ground, and it would get stuck at the apex of Phil Hill.

I am really excited to see this thing run at Le Mans. I think most of us on here lean toward function over form, hence all the Geh miatas, so this car suits our interests well. If it works.
On a separate note This BW configuration looks fun. On the website it looks like configuration #28 but with the sweeper instead of star mazda. Coming out of riverside looks like you could get some nice speed built up before the sweeper with phil hill out of the way. How the hell can we run these different layouts?

it is probably easier than you think. that means 2 configurations can be run concurrently, like the SCCA Superschool.. East and West loop.

the car is going to be raced as an exhibition, not scoring points.

The line he took exiting the sweeper looked like s#it. Wonder if that because the car sucked or he didn't have many laps yet?

^^ Me too. The car also looks to me like it would be difficult to gather it up if the rear end stepped out on you.

hope someone can explain to me how this is safe..

when you rub fender to fender or tire to tire in Formula/Saloon cars. There is something (your competitor's front tire) physically there preventing you going into his space (front part of the car, where traditionally front tires / suspension are).

with Delta car, there is nothing there. so when you are rubbing fender/wheels, there is nothing to prevent you moving into this space. I can just see the car crashes out at every race's 1st lap.

if you put a bunch of SM racers in them. they will all crash out before green flag falls...

I bet this is going to be the #1 challenge with this car.
Different track width front and rear is nothing new.

Um... Yeah, gonna disagree with you there. Look pretty much like a high-downforce-car line through the entire Sweeper.

He didn't get the front wheels on the exit curbing because the front is so narrow relative to the rear. But the rear would've been right up on that exit curb.

Ah yes, that's right. Wasn't considering the rear wheels being 6 feet wider than the front.
