Default Monterey Historics Camping - Any Experience?

I'm think about going to Monterey Historics this year and camping. Feature car is Ferrari so should be some amazing machinery out there.
It looks like I can buy open tent camping passes still, but I was thinking of renting an RV and bringing a few more people who might not be into tent camping. Maybe I'm too late to get a camping spot as I know the MotoGP weekends have some kind of system for previous year's campers to keep their spot. I haven't called the county reservation system yet.

Anybody have experience with this kind of camping or even the tent camping at this event?
Is the weekend experience good for camping?
    Anyone else going?
Any tips on what to do or not to do?
Anyone want to rent me their RV?

Might be a sudo bachelor party as I think I'm too old for a Vegas debauchery kind of trip and I need to save money to pay for racing, honeymoon, life, and wedding. (in that order)

We went last year to the Pre-Historics - the weekend before - and camped in our Travel Trailer. I'm thinking about going again that weekend if we aren't going somewhere else. 90% of the cars are there but maybe 25% of the crowds. The campground was pretty empty too.

Plus one for the pre-Reunion for the action on track and getting around the paddock freely. However, the scene in Monterey during the Reunion is really cool. The Portola Hotel downtown is all roped off with rarities and the cars parked on the streets are a veritable car show themselves.

It looks like the Historics are Aug 17-20 and the pre-historics are the weekend before.

Looking at my calendar I don't think I'll be able to make it this year.

    Didn't know about the pre-historics.
William - let me know if you're really going to go one of the weekends and maybe we can get a couple of sites.

Probably person dependent, but is there enough variety during the day to stay occupied?
Any activities during the evening during pre-historics?

I am serious about going. it is on my to do list. Just don't know enough about it: where do I go ? what's worth paying $200 a pop to see ? pre-historics vs. historics ? I would love to see old cars racing at Laguna also.
