    Default Miller closing in October

Miller Motorsports Park Closing Down In October

    Statement Regarding Miller Motorsports Park

(May 8, 2015) – The Larry H. Miller Group of Companies has elected not to renew its lease with Tooele County and will cease operation of Miller Motorsports Park at the end of the racing season on October 31, 2015. A full schedule of racing events, driving schools, public karting and group activities will be held this summer as planned.

Gail Miller, owner of the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies, stated: “On behalf of my family, I would like to thank all of those who have supported the track over the years, both locally and worldwide, for their enthusiasm and use of the facility.”

Wow. That's a fairly new facility. Not even 10 years old, and built for over $100 million.

Lame! I never made it to Miller. I hope it comes back reinvigorated with new injection of cashflow and facilities

Somebody will pick it up. Maybe Ford Motor Company? The facility is first rate. I hope someone makes a go of it.

:'( Had my first win with Roush there, drove Roger Miller's #158 Mustang to victory last year, coached there, and had a lot of fond memories and ties to that track.

It's really unfortunate the car/racing community is not very large in Utah or Vegas and they struggled to get the fan base/ticket sales to make it profitable. It is in Utah... Very sad news.

Agreed. Great facility. Would be a terrible shame to lose it to the cows.

Aside from their cost I never understood why people race them.

I hope to race there in July. It is a long drive, but I want to race there at least once in the event it doesn't reopen...

Yeah, I really enjoyed that track and the facilities. I was hoping Runoffs would go there sometime. Hopefully someone rich will buy it and keep it going.

Given Larry Miller's recent demise, I hope this isn't a bad omen for Big Willow. . . although Willow Springs is supported by a huge driver base compared to Salt Lake City.

    WSIR is:
    1) cheap
    2) near civilization
    3) already run by his kids
    4) CA point of historical interest (though I admit I'm not sure if that has any tangible benefits)

Wow the reasons to go to utah just went from 1 to 0.

Im glad I got to race there once, and was really looking forward to going back. Hopefully it will re-open.

Maybe ISC will pick it up for a fraction of what it cost to build.

Discovered this earlier tonight, thanks to T. Marc's twitter feed (@TMarkJones)

    Miller Motorsport Park to close...
Sounds like there may be a prison being built next door... I can't see why that would affect things, but ya never know.

A prison won't matter a bit. The track is already just a few miles from one of the largest chemical weapons disposal sites in the nation.
