Turn exit oversteer? Could have happened to any of the short cars.

Idiot porsche driver. Why did he turn in to him if he knew he was there? Hold your line on the outside. Not sure what he was doing. Unless he got loose on exit and the car just wanted to go right.

The bad thing about LeSaffre (the Porsche driver) is that he said it was Gunnars' fault and that "I was tracking out on the curb. My steering wheel was straight, and he whacked me. There is quite a bit of traffic and a lot of turns where you should not pass even if you’re in a P1 car. It comes down to being patient." This guys a clown! How does he not even know his car's gotten loose on the rumble strips. You can watch Gunnars' line through that corner and he clearly stayed on a straight (check turn-in marker on bridge) line.

That's why he's still in the Porsche and Gunnar's moved up to Prototype rides! You've gotta be accountable for your actions or you'll never be considered for a top ride cause you'll be the one blamin' everyone else except yourself. And yeah, I've got a dog in this fight.

Pretty standard for ALMS guys to express blind denial. Luhr is pretty bad.

He lost control for sure, you can see the p-car dash to the right after tracking out to the curbing. This video its a bit harder to see, but I watched another with views from a couple different cars. I mean he is coming up on a crest, hits curbing aaaand is in a rear engined car. Its unfortunate that LeSaffre can't just man up and admit that he is at fault, we have damn good video these days. Ofcourse his wheel was straight, thats why he hit the deltawing. He didn't anticipate or even begin correcting the oversteer. What a chump.

^^ That's what I noticed, too. If there had been some raised curbing where he went over, he might have suffered compression fractures in his neck. Roof = good.

at :48, Gunnar steered to right, but at :49 he steer back straight even thought contact with the Porsche is imminent (it looks light plenty of room due to Delta design), contact at :50

this is always been a problem with racing a Delta.
you never quite know how much room to give him. in w2w, most competitors use front tires / fenders to judge.

say you are side by side, you look over, his front tire is still 2ft away from your front tire. it means contact is happening now !! it is hard to be judging that space for other competitors of Delta. let's say you show up at a race, Delta shows up. you better walk over there and do some measurement to know how much space you can give him.

also let's say you are racing the Delta. is the void (where traditional front wheel is) consider racing room ? or is that part of Delta's space that you may never cross ?

William, at 1:20, doesn't it look like the car has taken a set and is going hard to the right, steering inputs be damned?

I said it on the 24 hrs of Le-Mans thread we had back then too, it's the other guy's fault but that's what happens when you put a triangle in a field of rectangles.

I agree and thought this when I first saw the design. William touched on it as well. The Porsche driver probably saw the front fender and thought he had another few feet of room.

Maybe he couldn’t see it still looks like his fault…..

After watching the video a couple times more, the part that amazes me the most is how easily the Deltawing went upside down.
Believe what you will about how innovative and so forth the concept is, but I doubt a normal fendered car will go shiny side down that quickly.
The UK Top Gear episode with the Robin comes to mind...
