I hope subaru could give a new engine for STI like 350hp.
Like 200lbs lighter than M4? It will need much more then 350whp to compete, but it will not happen nevertheless. Subaru, like Honda, is now "earth dreams" company dedicated to more sales in any single day

M2 has 335whp and current 2015 STI has poor 250whp. Last gen STI(08-2014) is rated as 230whp...
As for price, these two actually are not too far away. I'm not addicted to number but my top speed at buttonwillow is only 111mph before sunset. I think E46 M3 might be faster than 111mph.

The only advantage is subaru keeps its old good things like hydraulic steering and 200lbs lighter.

I love these japanese cars with outdated engine because of touge: more steering feedback, short 2nd and 3rd gear, stock suspension designed to run uneven back roads.

The car itself still stands for 35k price tag. Ironically, 1999 STI (22b) accelerates faster than 2017 STI. Same engine, almost same power but 22B is only 2900lbs with 4.1sec 0-60mph time.
