Jason has been a long time contributor over at Miata turbo site, the link is to a large electronics supplier, not to any personal solicitation site. I have read many of his posts when designing and building my Miata ECU set up.

That's my feeling for most of his posts on various Miata websites. Happy to have him here contributing though.

Hello all, New member. I found this forum while reading about Miatas. I'm not a racer but love working on and driving my NA Miata. Rather than troll, I think the term is, I decided to join so I could pose a question about this very interesting throttle shaft problem and the fact that there is so much really good info. on here. Here goes... Has there ever been a test run on the throttle body using the same velocity and volume of air that the engine would pull through it at 7200 rpm on the bench? What kind of turbulence is there? Weird pulses? Could you test that on a flow bench? Could the throttle blade be fluttering in the air flow at a high frequency? Just some thoughts....

So, you didn't epoxy the screws?

Red loctite two years/8 weekends ago. No epoxy. 202k miles on it. The y-brace behind the throttle body came loose at the manifold, and I am guessing that shook the shaft setscrews out.

The setscrews came out while going into turn 2 at Laguna Seca. The "throttle stuck wide open" but I was able to pull off to a safe place to avoid a black flag all. I ended the weekend early after taking the head off at the track.

The head looks like it has a trilobite fossil in it now. Cyl 4 looks even worse. Into the garbage it goes.

Hindsight is 20/20 and I wish I'd read this thread before last weekend
