I'm thinking tire is most of that difference in lap time.

AP2 3:00
CR 2:57.24
Almost 3 seconds difference between two models. I guess at least 2 seconds difference @BW13 or Thunderhill.
Video starting from 7:30, CR has understeer through tight corners.
Very stable in fast corners.
As one of co-developers of original NSX and NSX TypeR, Gunsun hates AWD. Obviously, another driver in best motoring named Nakaya seems not to agree with him. Even though Nakaya's favorite car is porsche and owns the only porsche magazine back in Japan, he co-developed EVO7/8 and used a lots of "electrical torque vectoring technology" back in 1999.
At the end of video, gunsan talked about all TypeR model and real sports car should be pure, simple, light and two wheel drive.
It's interesting to see these two different approach to build sports car after 20 years. Now new cars are more like a "EVO style". It's rare to see a "NSX or S2000 style" again.
