Default Yesterday: Viper sets Rear Drive Nurburgring Record.

Apple Pie Team dishes big slice of Humble Pie:

3 seconds off the Porsche 918 (Hypercar) production record.

. . . and so close to sub 7 minutes.

I was fortunate enough to drive a few laps in my friends car at Sonoma. It's a very approachable car. I loved it. Only complaints are it eats front tires in a few sessions, I'm under 6'2" and had my head cocked against the roof with a helmet on and it's really stretching the term "street car". But once your driving it on track it's incredible. I had corded front tires matched with fresh rears when I went out so there was some scary push in the high speed back section but I'm pretty sure with some fresh tires and a little tweaking it would be perfect. But even things like the driver controls were really good. Tranny shifts great, steering is good, engine is as fantastic as you'd expect from a NA v10 but actually felt a little choked. It's nuts to think what this car would do with a little set up. Pretty sure with less than 10k in wheel/tire package and exhaust/tune it could beat the million dollar plus hyper cars. I'm eager to see if the new gt2 will have it in its cross hairs.
