By the way, did anyone notice that the owner of the Tilton Evo did a casual 1:30 during its lap of honor and then in the interview he said he might just bring that car out and drive it in Pro Am next year

I'm not sure which I'm more...

STOKED for Slade and MCA for that INSANE lap

    or...

PISSED that race control has suddenly decided to cracking down on track limits. They've ALWAYS been using every millimeter of pavement available.
Under did a 1:23 flat. Doesn't count, despite doing the same line everyone has always.

    Race control rescinded their decision.

Yeah, that had BS written all over it.
So for something like 30 seconds, Under WAS the record holder

To think the Tilton's 2015 record breaking run wouldn't even finish on the podium this year.
    Mind, blown.

I watched most of the streaming. The event was slow at times, but still fun.
I did not really understand how fast they´re going until I looked up for some reference lap times: V8 Supercars record is 1.30. Pagani Huayra BC driven by Tsuchiya did 1.41. This event had a freakin CRX doing 1.27 with an amateur driver. And a Silvia doing 1.22. Many cars one would usually consider "fast" (turbocharged S2000, prepped Z06, Exige S) were all over 1.40.

The only problem I think it´s still a very local event, >90% cars belonged to 3 countries: Japan, New Zealand and Australia. Very few guys from the US and Europe. I would love to see FXMD NSX and some european hillclimb monsters making the trip.

The times at this event were crazy fast.

Some great photos on the SH website from day 1. It's funny to read this now where they're talking about Slade shaving a hundredth of a second off the record, not knowing that the next day he would crush it by over a second and a half

Quick interview with Murray Coote of MCA from Friday afternoon. Hopefully the link works, I hate facebook embedded videos:

Boost builds so easily they have to program boost by throttle position or else they'd have 35psi at 50% throttle

Looks like more than just rumors, Tilton Evo may end up running Pro Am next year in the hands of the owner. This year's "fun" lap was his first time in the car, on half-boost and the same tires from last year and he did a 1:30ish. Yikes, look out Pro Am.

Also, they're aiming for the Bathurst production car record in November!

Looking forward to see this car run Mt. Panorama.

Mick Sigsworth will have his work cut out for him in Pro-Am.

You could tell Mick's emotions were mixed this year despite winning 4 straight titles. After all, this is a sport about going faster year over year. No one likes going slower...

It was far less "in the bag" for Sigsworth this year than it should have been.

Thinking about the results of this year again, I think that Under Suzuki had his best chance to win last year and it just didn't happen with the engines... like the engine upgrades materialized a year too late.
I hope it's not the case.

Yeah, people were tipping Under to go low 23's last year, he just didn't have the engine reliability to do it, especially in last years conditions.

I'm curious what Tilton will build for Pro Class. I'm guessing two years out possibly.

IMO they should build Evo 5 or 6 chassis (can probably get close to MCA's weight even with AWD), proper wishbone front and rear, and tunnels now that the rear shock tower rules seemed to have opened up a bit. They already have the engine package

While the most impressive laps at the 2016 WTAC belong to the hammerhead, I have to say that I'm almost as impressed with Mighty Mouse.
    1:27.6 with a FWD?!?!
    That is un-freaking-believable fast.
I have to say that seeing that lap time I wished Rob Nguyen managed to find a couple tenths more FTW, it would've been a well deserved one.

I've always loved that car. It had the highest min speed of all the cars last year. I'm hoping Rob shares in car video. Thing is a absolute terror on wheels.
