    Default Wtac 2016

2016 world time attack challenge is starting tomorrow (Friday in Australia).
As usual, it's the collection of the world's wildest time attack machinery, including some of my personal faves such as the Scorch Racing S15 driven by Under Suzuki (pro class) -

And the PMQ Evo driven by Mic Sigworth (Pro-am) -

Check out a couple other good driving shows with the JDM Yard Civic driven by Adam Casmiri in the Open class -

And David Lord which I always enjoyed watching him drive the wheels off of his Subaru in Club Sprint and according to the entry list is running this year in the Tunehouse Toyota 86 (Clubsprint) -

Noted in absence is the Tilton interiors team and their mighty Evo.
This will also be the first year the RP968 team gets to run their Porsche 968 with some tuning time on it.
Last year the car came with zero tuning time and already showed some serious pace, now with a year of development under their belt this car could become a serious contender for the overall win -

Less than 24 hours to go until the event starts, discuss!

Although I hardly go to local time attack events, it is so interesting to see the build details on these cars. Tremendous amount of development and serious pace.
I´m rooting for anything RWD. An Evo winning 3 years in a row? for christs sake.

Is this happening at Eastern Creek? I couldn't figure it out from the website.

Yeah, it used to be called Eastern Creek and now called Sydney Motorsport Park.

N'ring - I'm hoping this is the year that Under Suzuki will top the podium.

I'm sorry, there must be some mistake. I ordered the large rear wing.

To me the new name is a little too chardonnay with pinkie in the air...you know...sorta like what Corvette drivers are -- on the inside.

No better example of this than Sonoma... where you go for wine tasting... as opposed to Sears point, where you go racing

    ...And the carnage starts.
Looks like the RP968 (sporting a new livery) lost a hood during practice.
Word is it'll be fixed in time for tomorrow -

Can't wait. Coffee pot at the ready for the live stream.

Fingers crossed for Under Suzuki. He's had a car and team capable of a win so many years, but the cards have never fallen in his favor enough to take it.

I usually like to pull for the underdogs but in Pro Am I don't doubt that PMQ has it.

Open class is looking hot this year. WTAC newsletter about a week ago spotlighted some half dozen cars that are speculated to have what it takes to go sub-1:30.

Looks like the weather is going to much cooler than last year. Tomorrow (this afternoon), will be the better day for records.

That freak heat last year killed quite a few cars trying to gun for a record in the peak of the day.

So good seeing Under Suzuki make it around without drama, and he threw down a 1.24.2 already!

Dissapointed Under wasn't able to put together the lap yet, but very cool to see Slade set a new record in the Hammerhead. I'll be pulling for both of those teams tomorrow. I'd love to see the new kids to the party (RP 968) find themselves fighting tooth and nail for the podium rather than just showing up with a metric ton of cash and walking away with a win in their second year.

What's up with Sigsworth? They supposedly spent most of this year doing thorough testing... Is he running on a 3 cylinder handicap to give the others a chance? Half way through the day he tossed his new nose in the bin and put last year's nose back on...

Same here, I love that the fight is on and not an easy go for the RP tech guys.
The Hammerhead is showing some shocking pace, 00:24.7 through sector 1!

Also not understanding Sigsworth event so far.
Not entirely convienced about him holding his cards close to his chest here, supposedly day 2 is going to be hotter, so day 1 was the one have a go at it unless he's counting on the first session of day 2... seems like a risky strategy.
They are probably dealing with some mechanical problem, because it's hard to explain the car going 5 seconds backwards..
