^^^ If he drove like that in the real world at WSIR, he'd be dead . . .

Agree, but except the fatalities the game looks pretty realistic to me.My guess is that the lap times are not that far off either, unfortunately we dont have a real lap time in that car to compare.

    Agreed.
The physics also look a bit too game-like and less simulator than expected.

Kiril, I think that GMG has their WC R8 @ WSIR not too long ago and there was a thread here somewhere with footage, you can probably dig it and see how close or not it is

It's kinda a cool seeing him go off track into the dirt actually! Most video game tracks are bound by a wall or runnoff area of some sort, just like most real life tracks. Desert tracks have a certain appeal, now others who dont' live here can experience it

My friend tried it out at E3. He ran a 1:28 in a stock FR-S. I'm not sure about the times...

    ^^^ I doubt if a real FR-S could come anywhere close to that time . . .

Off by what 3-4%? For one, the game track surface is probably far grippier than the actual beat up surface.

No dip in T9 and the elevation change on the back straight is not very pronounced in the game. Hmm, our NSX was 1.4 seconds faster than Sofronas at WSIR (1:18.555). I forget what time they turned at 13CW...

Keep in mind the game usually assumes perfect weather too.

And no Budweiser signage at the Balcony. I guess they couldn't be bothered with the licenses. And I believe the words "Streets of Willow" on the side of the building as you exit T8 is missing.

The Budweiser Balcony signage is a sight marker on the real world track

Wouldn't it be closer to 10%? Can a stock FRS/BRZ do better than 1:38 at WSIR on factory tires?

But you and JJ are most likely right about track grip, perfect weather, no wind, etc.

    Ben -

Your numbers appear correct to me. 1:38 seems like a reasonable time at WSIR for a stock FRS/BRZ. So that's 10 seconds more than the ridiculous video game time of 1:28. 10 seconds divided by 88 seconds (1:28) is 11.36% error. Emilio missed the bus on this one.

I would buy this if for no other reason to get the fastest car possible, carry the most speed possible around T9, and aim straight for that concrete wall flat out and see what happens. Oh and after satisfying that urge, I would turn my car around and race backwards weaving in/out of oncoming traffic until mayhem occurs again. I wonder if I could get air in T7 backwards? Hmmm...

^^^As you know, Sonoma Raceway (f/k/a Infineon, a/k/a Sears Point) is always run clockwise. At a Friday open test before a NASA race weekend a few years ago, I got a tour of the track in a golf cart from a long time employee of the track during the lunch break, who said he had the keys to the track for years, and had run it CCW when it was closed many times. I bet there are people who have run WSIR CCW under similar conditions.
