Here is your starter kit. Start out with small lengths at first or you will overdose and the medics might not be able to resucitate you.

thinking it's the latest windows update. Still can't see a reason why it's a invalid image on my files. But hadn't had a lot of time lately.

I had started thinking about a Volt to replace my Subaru for a daily driver. Let me know what you think of it and how much it changes your electric bill before the Tesla arrives.

Team 949 wins all T25 classes in 2013 with Miatas and Vettes. And Emilio figures out a loophole in the rules to get a Miata in ESR.

for me, it really was just a great lease deal. I have a GM card with around $2,500 on it. somehow they topped it off to $4,200 (not sure how, could of been a mistake, I did get a mailer saying it is being topped off to $3k), they also sent me a $1k coupon. then leasing company gave a $2,300 CCR (something like that, basically a GM incentive) so it means I had a zero drive off using $7,500. my monthly payment (35 months, 12k miles/year) came to $180 + tax.

now the good part is - California will send me a $1,500 check (your tax dollar) for thanking me leasing an EV, then give me a green sticker ($8) so I can drive in carpool lane (passing all you suckers). I figure $180/month x 35 months - $1,500 = $4,800 to drive 3 years / 36k miles (still have to pay 2 years registration and insurance). I currently daily cars getting ~20mpg (3 cars average), which means about $7,200 in fuel just daily my current cars, not counting wear and tear.

so in theory (not exactly, since electricity costs money, but I do charge at work, which cost quite a bit less plus write off), I just made a profit of $2,400 by leasing a Volt............
fuzzy math I know. but I am sure I am at least driving the Volt for free.

Eric: if you buy a Volt, let me know. I have another GM card, but not as much money in it now (the top off was targeted), I can assign to others.

base Volt is $40k - $3,500 discount (my dealer does that) - $2,000 rebate - $1,500 (a check from California in 2 weeks) - $7,500 federal tax credit (buying only, not for leasing) = $25,500
this is before any GM card rebate or coupon. if you wait a little, you can usually get few thousands worth.
plus this also qualified for 0% / 72 month.

Hakeem has owned a Volt for a while now, he can probably chime in on the car.

remember that the $1,500 money comes from a fund, that usually runs out mid year.

Yes. I notice that too. You can upload a link, but not a file for almost two weeks now.

You're welcome to take mine for a day or two if you want a good test drive. Just don't take it to Buttonwillow.

Haven't driven it in months at this point!

We have one of the earliest ones, doesn't get the carpool sticker (lame) but I have cruised around in there with no real issue. Leased in Jan '11.

We leased ours through US Bank and they applied the $7500 credit on their end, and we got similar discounts to what you are describing. Ended up being a really cheap lease, cheaper than similarly equipped Prius even though the Volt MSRP was over $12k more.

Biggest complain is lack of cargo room and no middle rear seat. The trunk looks big, but the shape of the hatch and the height of the trunk floor (presumably due to battery) means that you can't really fit much in there. Also there is no real separation between the trunk and the back seats, so packing stuff in there feels more dangerous. Performance wise it has plenty of torque for daily commuting and never having to buy gas is a huge plus, mostly because its a PITA to buy gas rather than it being that much cheaper. When you do end up filling it with gas you will have to hold the gas pump at a weird angle to get it to work...you will see what I mean when you get there. Also feel like the handling of the car is pretty good/sporty compared to something like the Prius.

Only real-world issue is travelling up hill; you have to press the little mode button into mountain mode well in advance of the hills coming up otherwise it puts you in this "propulsion limited" state and you can only go about 50mph. Has happened a couple of times on the way to Vegas and can be pretty dicey if you were just cruising in the fast lane at 80+ and all of a sudden you are capped at 50mph. If you know the hills are coming you can put it in mountain mode and it seems to peg the gas engine at like 4000rpm to charge the battery more aggressively.

Don't intend on buying the car at the end of the lease, mostly because I am bored and want something like a Tesla or the CTS-V wagon.

I have noticed that the lease rate is really low. How many annual miles to you get?
