Default Why you never want to run at CoTA

Our SCCA sprint races are 30 mins long. At CoTA this year it took about 15 mins to get disabled cars off track as CoTA extracation teams use a flatbed wrecker instead of pulling you off track quickly with our mandated tow hooks. This looked like growing pains at CoTA so better luck next year.

Today I'm watching the FiaWEC at CoTA. A car is stalled going off in T1. It takes 15 mins to get the car off track and resume racing! Can you believe that? All year and CoTA management has learned nothing! CoTA is such an awesome track but if you got a 20 min HPDE session or a 30 min SCCA sprint race and a car goes off you may as well end your session and come in for a soda.

So that's why you never want to run at CoTA if you cherish your hard earned dollar and all the effort it takes to get minimal tracktime because someone is going to go off track.

    Thank You...Rant Off.

Soda makes me drive slower later in the day, true story. Like a full second per cup (yes I measured my intake to my depreciating laptimes)

Should probably just come in for water Bob. :P

Ok, so just keep the S2000s off the track and you should be OK, right?

..and the Spec Miatas and Porsche 911s!

so did you ask them why they keep using a flat bad and their reasoning behind it. Also ask why isn't a regular tow vehicle pulling them off the track used to expedite the towing a better, faster, more efficient idea. What was their response? Why bother having front tow hooks then... -__-

Oh My! That is a whole 'nuther rant. You see unless you know someone on the right committee there is no way to get any message to someone official. There is someone in charge but there is no way you or I will ever figure out who. However, there is plenty of contact with paddock police who are right there to catch you with your pants down if you pee in the wrong toilet. Seriously, my winky dink in hand, I got "hey you are not supposed to be using this bathroom, and you are not supposed to be in this building."

I'm really not bitter. The track is phenomenal. I just wish those who run the track would get their act together. Sad so sad. It just seems like the people running it don't know anything about racing but think owning a track is a good idea.

I have an idea. Purposely go off and park it. Then have a nice chat with the tow truck guy. Or have people go off every 15minutes. Yellow flag the entire day. That should bring it to their attention.
