You have a point there. I guess the point I was trying to make is that the cars are disposable and that there could be some competitive racing done in them for very little investment. I'd say run them as they are. Why cage a car that's got front and side impact airbags and is certified for high speed operation? If you blow an engine or trans, go buy another car for $1500. Hells bells.. let's run a demolition derby! LOL! I know Miatas are *****en, I've run with them. In fact one of the cooler guys I've talked to was a Miata guy at Buttonwillow that approached me because he was impressed by how fast I was getting around the track. Most of the guys act like they're insulted by my mere presence at the track and the faster I go the more they act like I don't exist. I came on this forum hoping to find some of the cooler guys like the guy in the orange 777 Miata at Buttonwillow that encouraged me to go back out and drive and have a good time. For me it's not about winning, being the best, or having the coolest ride... I just like to drive..

Slodew, I'm very familiar with the Vic. I'm also a firm believer in "run what you have till you learn how to drive". I have sent time with the guy that was responsible for the Vic's handling. As I said, they are a fun car to track. Do laps or even a lemon/chump car racing with. He'll, I have even taken a rented F150 on track. Drove my Nissan Pathfinder for a lead/fallow instruction vehicle at the streets. I have no shame in my game. As long as your having fun.
Speed and lap times mean nothing till your competing. Other then a measurement on your own personal betterment.

As for my WSIR times. My personal best in a Pro7 (116whp) was 1:39.9 and 1:37 in an ill handling PTE Rx7 (138 whp).
That's not a Typo, I just can't spell no so well.

    OP-

The FC RX7 is legal in SCCA STL as well. The STL class has a good field that is growing and allows for some mods, but not EP level mods.

no worries man. Didn't take it that way at all. Just stating facts. Or facts as i see it.
If everyone agreed. It would be very boring. Besides, some of us have to keep the Miata guys (and I use that term loosely) in check. Or it would be one big Miata orgy.

    Critical Decode and link alert:

"Miata" and "orgy" are two words - in the same sentence - that can get a lot of West Hollywood gym rats pretty excited:

That looks like the ex-Tony Presto Monster Energy car. Tony is a good guy and always seems to cut reasonable deals. I bought my 88 FC from him, and have been tweaking it. I am down to 1:39 atBig Willow, but a almost identical car runs 1:37's. maybe even a 1:36. My car has been extremely trouble free and easy to maintain.

You can get a pretty good and quiet exhaust system for them - pre-silencer and muffler, didn't hurt my performance and bunch quieter. The other drivers appreciated it.

If I remember correctly tony ran a 1:39 in that car at willow. I have talked to Adam and I think he is considering the race school with us in November.

Try staying behind a RX7 with an open exhaust and a megaphone...You dont stay there long.

Yep it's Tony's old car. Was a tough deal to pass up with lots of spares including a full longblock for when the current one pops. He told me he beat upon the other Miatas at ACS the other weekend in my old car!

The car isn't loud. It's DEAFENING. A quieter exhaust is definitely on my short list. For now just earplugs.

I'm looking forward to getting it back on the track soon. Hopefully BRP later this month. And race school this fall
