Default Who's going to Laguna for MotoGP? I need room.

Can't seem to get a decent rate for room around Laguna Seca on July 17-19. Any suggestions? Just need a place to sleep at night. Thanks.

    I'm not surprised!

MotoGP is the largest event of the year at Laguna. Everyone in Monterey, Marina, Seaside, and Salinas will be raising their prices. Unfortunately, there isn't too much outside of those towns with decent lodging and still close to the track. You could stay in Santa Cruz, but you'll be about 45 mins-1 hour from the track. I would say try the Comfort Inn Monterey Penninsula Airport. It's right next to the airport, but they shouldn't be doing anything at night anyways. It's also the closest hotel to the track. If that doesn't work, there's a line of motels on Fremont Street in Monterey/Seaside that should be relatively inexpensive and are close to the track. I believe Manly and AJ stayed at one of the places on this strip when they came up here last year for some track days.

our hotel for skippy is the bay park hotel in monterey, try there.. its decent. that comfort inn by the airport is good too, but probably pretty expensive for the moto gp wknd. also look at the hotels in marina, probably a little cheaper and its not that bad of a drive. i wouldn't stay in salinas though...

Salinas can be a bit... rough, depending on neighborhood.

I went the first year MotoGP came to the U.S.!

We stayed at a bed-and-breakfast in Carmel. Beautiful little town, and only around 20min to Laguna Seca.

Note: Bring your bike!!! It took about 2 hours from the entrance to actually find parking...and about the same to leave. With a bike you can lane split all the way in.

Make sure you hit up the Cannery at nightime!

Not this time. I tried that once after hearing everyone said how great it was. The ride there was kinda fun if you're going with a buncha friends. After a long weekend at the track, I got burned out and I didn't feel like riding it back. Luckily I knew one of the vendors and they took by bike back. I have to say that it was my first and last...I wouldn't do it again.

    Now, who's going again?

It's kinda hard falling asleep on a bike. If you want to know what it's like, try row down all your windows, go about 80mph and see if you can fall asleep.
