Default Who is the Best F1 Driver right Now?

I don't mean who has the fastest car. I don't mean who has the most championship points so far this year, or who is driving for the first place constructor's championship. I mean who is the best driver. I will go first. Fernando Alonso . . .

As much as I like Kimi, he had a kinda bad race today at Silverstone (CRASH!!!), and so far a pretty miserable first season back at Ferrari . . .

Although I doubt if Vettel agrees. I've never heard such whining and squealing.

I'd say Bottas is right on the money. So much overtaking and so much lack of drama going from 14td to 2nd with the good old Willimas

    Fernando Alonso. Still.

When I look at where he finished at Silverstone, after starting 15th and suffering a five-second stop-and-go penalty, I'm impressed, and he's done that kind of thing a few times this year.

I like Vettel's driving and the way he perfected the Blown Diffuser style was impressive. That's now biting him as it's taking him much longer to adapt.

In the past I very much enjoyed Schumacher's ruthlessness and laser focus on winning.

I think some of the new blood is really good actually: Bottas, Kyvat being two standouts.

    Alonso and Hamilton.
Hamilton is a faster driver ultimately, but Alonso is a better overall driver.

as for Bottas, he might be good. but we would never know, as he has never had a fast teammate. Williams could be the fastest F1 car this year.

True, but actually racing without whining elevates the experience so much more.Listening to Alonso,Vet and Ham's radio communication makes me cringe. But I am probably too old school ......

If the factory Mercedes team doesn't show up for a weekend, I can respect that argument.

I'd say Williams/RedBull and an Alonso driven Ferrari are the next tier down depending on who's car is best suited for the track layout on a given weekend.

I'll go with Alonso. Even with cars that were outright terrible he came within a roll of the dice of scoring the driver's title in 2010 and 2012.

Bottas really does appear to be outstanding. Alonso is great though.

Side note: Vettel really sucks, especially with his radio whining.

Of the new generation: Daniel Ricciardo.
    Current generation: Lewis Hamilton
    Old generation: Alonso Fernando

Overall Alonso, he seems to get more out of his car and often drives beyond what the car is capable of doing.

Biggest cry baby: tied Lewis and Sebastian.
If nothing happens and there is no one around why did it not happen?

RULE #101 NO WHINING. Gawd, it got so annoying. I so wanted their team to just tell them over the radio to shut up and get on with it. lol. Whining is for amateurs.

Agreed. If I were a team manager, Alonso would be at the top of my list. I would team him with Hulkenberg or Bottas to score points without causing too much inter team shenangians

agree with first part. but not the 2nd part. Alonso would have big problem with any teammate capable of beating him even once every 3 races.
you need to team Alonso with say Button. 2nd tier driver, but consistent enough to stay out of trouble.

I have always enjoyed Button's in-car video. He's so smooth.

Not sure I agree on that. There are no F1 drivers that I would say are so slow. Put them all in identical cars and then we might get an answer to who's fast and who's not.
