I wouldn't mind an Ariel Atom. Maybe not the ultimate dream track car but I would still like to have one

Like this? Nice choice. I really like the center driving position too. Too bad they only made S1 like that. The recently cup cars are either left or right hand drive.

    Many to choose from.

    Ultima GTR
    Ariel Atom with supercharged K20
    Lotus Motorsports Elise
    Porsche 997 GT3 Cup

I'd be happy with any of those.

Realistically I'd be happy with any sub 2800-lb RWD car that has about 250hp or more.

If I had a disposable million dollars, the first thing I'd go out to buy would be a Ferrari 360GTC. I saw one at Willow Springs a year and half ago, and its sound is still implanted in my head.

    After that, Radical SR3, 997 GT3RS, and Exige S.

Hrm dream track car...seriously the Lotus Elise. If not that, a Porsche 997 GT3 RS. If not that, an Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA.

Some day. I will have a Lotus Elise. Yes.

I just saw that the A/C delete option on the Lotus is like an extra $250...couldn't they just keep it off and make that an option along with the passenger seat? I mean come on...who needs a/c and a passenger? Pfft...

The Elise and Noble are pretty much the ultimate track cars for what I want to do. If I ever wanted something quicker (no), one choice would be the Diasio 962R turbo (1300 lbs, 410 bhp, http://www.diasio.com/). Also, there's next year's Noble M15C (2200 lbs., 650 bhp).

I drove an Atom at Thunderhill yesterday (figured, what the heck!) and even with the 245hp base motor it was a blast.

Based on their comments, the tour has been very successful for them, so I'd expect 2008 to have even more dates.

One of the instructors had to leave (leaving them with just 6) mid-day, so since I'd had experience at Thunderhill and hadn't scared the hell out of my instructor, I got the magic pass to run the last two sessions solo.

About the only negative comment I have is that most of their instructors hadn't been to Thunderhill before, and so they were just learning the track as well. In particular, most instructors had their students running the cars tighter on the exit from 2 and to get fully wide for the entry to 3, which, given the camber of turn 3 (and the decreasing radius) is sub-optimal and led to a couple of spins there.

That's the exact supercharger I had in my miata. It makes sweet music at anything over 2k rpms.
