Underinflated overloaded rear tire? I seem to remember about 15 years ago porsches eating the rears like that on some rear tires. I think even hoosier back in the day forbid the use of a specific size of hoosier tire on 911 porsche rears recommending instead a same width higher profile tire that could support the load.

Bad news. Your tire has worms. Gonna need to visit the vet.

I would contact the tire maker and ask what they think happened. They might not care or they might be interested in any information you have. If they are interested enough you might get a freebie.

Looks like the tire was driven on while flat based on the wear marks on the sidewall? The belts appear to have been cut by the rim pinching the tire sidewall. Or if it wasn't flat are there any tire marks on your inner fender area or suspension?

    Jaku -

Where have you been? It's your first post here in years.

Your karate chop video of the Mustang that wouldn't let you pass is one of the trackHQ all time classics . . .

BTW, can anybody here find that video? I searched for it without success. It's such a hoot. Please bring it back from the archives.

I'm worried that it was part of the videos hosted on trackhq itself. Perhaps Brenna has those saved offline somewhere?

I donno the manufacture date but the size is 24/61/17

I first used it exactly 1 year ago on 9/28-29 weekend for 3 laps qualify and 12 laps race on my street S2000

    S2000 race spec:

    1300kg (628/672)
    250hp
    16/16 kgf/mm Tein SRC
    camber -3.5/-4.0

I took them out and use them on this street FR-S last weekend for TA purpose, about 3 hot laps, it had A050 for pre-test in the video

    FR-S race spec:

    1300kg (673/624)
    300hp
    10/12 kgf/mm Tein SRC
    camber -4.0/-3.0

I've been moved back to Taiwan since 2009, and still racing cars n karts whatever they have here, most importantly I still drive on the mountain passes!

I do have those videos in my youtube account, I know you just want to see how you helped me block that Mustang!

What brand/model tire is it? I take it its a racing slick.

Did the tire ever sit for a while flat/not inflated?

Thanks for finding the Jaku karate chop video! That never gets old. That was a long time ago. Manly is in it. I had completely forgotten that I was in it too, in my #94 black Miata. It should be duly noted that I gave Jaku the point-by immediately after he drove up on me. In fact, it looks like I inadvertently helped Jaku pass the white Mustang.

What's with the aspect ratio in that video? All the cars look squashed vertically . . .

I asked a friend with many years of racing experience and he said it was an overheat failure that he'd seen on stock cars in the past.
