I totally believe in going for it cause you only live once, but, let's consider your issues, Richard. You're saying you've got back problems and you're considering getting into a car, for all intends and purposes, might as well be an classed-up Evo! OK, ok, you could possibly argue that I'm out of my mind, but the fact is the Maserati's going to have the same ingress issues as the Evo-probably worse looking at that roof line.

Come on, you know you want to style n' profile with that ride, but do you really continue to have back issues just for the "look at me" factor? I see it has "Easy Entry System Seat", I see you still having the issue to pretzel yourself into this thing.

Consider a higher sitting sedan with massaging seats. An example is the new S-Class, A8. Maybe not the most emotional cars out there but your back will thank you for it.

Used to be that the cheapest way to own a Ferrari engine was to buy a Maser, but I can't think of any 3.0L V6 TT Ferrari in production.
So where is this engine from?
Might be a reasonably good indicator for reliability if you look at reviews of vehicles that share this engine.

you do know you are talking about a Maserati, right ?

you put a Maserati sticker on a Miata, I bet: fuse box will blow up, engine will rust from inside out, fuel tank will leak and catch fire. All these happens within 48 hours.
I will make a u-turn so I can avoid a Maserati. after its headlight beam hit my S2000 last time, radio went kaput.

I thought dealers have been having a horrible time trying to move the Ghibli.... so tons of deals way off MSRP and cheap leases. But also reflects that it will be very difficult to resell.

Richard: your MR has a much higher resale value than you think. yes, even with 130k miles. it is still a ~$15k car.
just realized it is a Ghibli and not a Quattroporte. so Ferrari is definitely a bad idea.
I would probably go with the base model. I don't trust Italian AWD. and much prefer RWD. though less power, but lower weight too.

Get a Cayenne with a manual transmission - not sure if it's still available and spend the rest on a personal trainer, dietician and a gym membership. Get that back and the rest of you in better shape.

If it were me, I'd probably opt for the Audi S6. Perhaps the Merc E63.

For more money, then the S8 or that amazingly sexy F Type.

I have no idea what an optioned Ghibli would sell for, and Edmunds did not have ownership cost numbers for the Ghibli, so I pasted numbers for another "alternate" luxury sedan as a rough indicator.

You can do the math of Jaguar's depreciation as a percentage of total cost to get a general idea of what to expect for the Maserati; but, after having looked at the link below, my guess is that the Jaguar will depreciate a bit less in terms of a percentage of total cost. Note hat you can pick up a <30k miles Quattroporte (a much more expensive car) for under $30K.

How many times do I have to say that you guys don't seem to get it. A low-slung sports car like an R8 will not work for me with my back problems. I want a sexy sedan with a comfy driver's seat, but I can't stand Cadillac, Mercedes, and Lexus. I want a fast but comfortable car that almost nobody I know would buy. Hence, one more time for those who are stoned out, I like the Maserati S Q4. Any other suggestions in that price range that have the attributes I need? P.S. I don't give a $h!t about resale value, assuming the car will survive for several years.
