Default Urgent - Please support SCCA T1 racing

Take two minutes to write a letter to the SCCA Board of Directors right now. They are making a vote on Friday to change a bunch of T1 rules.

If they vote yes, the T1 class will unravel and fragment over the Competition Rules Board proposed changes to T1.

Please write to bod@scca.com and urge them to vote “No” on the proposed T1 changes.

Tell the SCCA Board of Directors:
    1. The current rule set is not what we want.
    2. It will prove to be quite expensive, that is why STO is not working
    3. If we do this right we can add drivers
    4. Done wrong we lose drivers
    5. We have an alternate T1 spec to recommend if someone on the CRB actually listens.
    6. We need to grow SCCA. Combining race classes masks the underlying problem of losing drivers each year.

Or just tell them in your own words you like to watch the close racing and the changes are detrimental to driver retetion and driver recruitment.

The vote is Friday and barraging them on 10/11/2012 with letters will actually work.

    Thanks,

Does the new proposal give people with cars like mine a place to race in scca?

You read the new proposed rules from your comments earlier. You seemed to like them so you probably should not write the letter.

We are trying to stop a travesty that will unravel the growth we have been getting in T1. If we stop the current proposal and write-up a new one I honestly don't know where that will leave you and your car regarding T1.

You might be better off in GT3 or GT2 where they seem to be moving some of the original STO/ex-World Challenge cars.

It's a turbo RX7, built with the intention to race with ST2 next year.

Oli, I was referring to the new rules you would be proposing. Seems like ST2 is a natural fit for you guys.

Can we get 50 letters from TrackHQ in 24 hours?

Just put in the subject line that you want the BoD to vote "NO" on the CRB proposal for T1.

Tell them one or two of the six things above and then post here you wrote your short e-mail.

Let's see if TrackHQ can produce 50 response of "Vote NO"

Not really. We don't want splitters and wings and stuff. Right now the racing is fast and easy. No splitters to break off with two wheels off. No buddy required to lift the front pieces of the car off just to load it into the trailer. Springs spec'd out. Engines spec'd out. Very few changes other than shocks.

Kinda' like V8 Spec Miata. That is why are racing is so often so good.

My letter's sent; it's a little confusing and I'm not even sure where my car will end up next year. I hope for the best but as history often repeats itself I'm not holding my breath for the BOD to take action. Fingers crossed

Thanks for sending letters guys. I've sent a half dozen over the past few months but no response or sign that I've been heard. For the reasons Oli mentions above I want T1 to stay the same. It is like spec corvette and we have closely matched cars. Plus they are easy to get in and race since they are so close to a stock street car. STO and ST2 open up a huge can of worms as far as modding and it can and will become an arms race for parts. Plus if this doesn't get reversed I'm going to name my T1 car something like "Cruiser" and sign it up for PTE next year.
