The current S4 is still a B8. Some people have referred the 2013 model as the B8.5.

Unfortunately, the 6-series (including the M6) don't come in manual anymore in U.S. The 5-series (including the M5), OTOH, still come in manual. Most (if not all) BMW dealers probably won't have one on their lots. But you can definitely order it.

That's not true. The new M3/4 will be offered with manual.

I'm used to working on Italians. The DCT is not a slushbox but a manual with automatic solinoids just like the Ferrari F1 gearbox except it works! Even the 1st gen BMW SMG works better than a modern Ferrari DCT. My family went from zero BMWs to now 6 BMW's. They are the ultimate driving machine. They make all the right compromises and if they aren't for you the aftermarket has your solution in whatever flavor you want.
The E46 is just as bad as the E36, which is pretty awful. Sure they can be made fast, just like practically anything, but there is nothing ultimate about it...other than that it will (probably) be the last BMW I own!

fatbillybob is the only guy I have ever met who biatches about the quality of Ferraris and can't lavish enough praise on BMWs. He has experience with both, so I am not really questioning what he says, but I have experience with BMWs and I think he's a little bit over the moon for them at the moment.

Until they rust away and then they're great rust.
I remember my dad buying a brand new Alfasud in 1983, cool little car.
6 months later that shiny Red paint was already bubbling and rust started popping in all the traditional locations like window seals and such...

I agree BMW SMG is a piece of **** ! But that being said a e92 m3 is the nicest , easiest to drive fast car I have ever been in (6 speed manual). I love my friends e92 and when he put JRZ coil-overs it was even better.
