    I'm not using my situation w/ shad as the example. I have rented a number of other cars too. The SM's I've rented always seemed to be decent cars.

    A question I have is how do you protect both parties. There is no liability insurance for racing. There is no liability insurance the renter can buy on the renter as far as I know. Total loss of the car is nothing compared to the lawyer's claiming Bob's rental was not safe enough. Then how does the rentee stay protected who spends money flying across country taking time off work only to have a substandard rental car on his bucket list race at Watkins Glen?
