    Default Subaru Mid Engine Hybrid

Pretty slim sourcing on this story, but it does make me wonder about the possibility of a BRZ on their new platform:

Ugh. When I'm looking for a sports car, a hybrid powertrain is definitely on my list of must haves. I want to get at least 40mpg as I get groceries, commute to work, pick up my 4 kids, and other things I'm likely to do in my sports car.

“Whether the end result will be a two-door sports coupe or some kind of sports crossover/CUV is still in the evaluation stage,”

In the real world we know which path will be chosen, especially in light of slow BR-Z sales. Subaru is all about "love" nowadays, not sportiness.

Interesting. Wonder if it's a joint Toyota project like the FRS. Toyota has the hybrids expertise.

If they sell it under the Toyota brand they can call it MR-S.

Several years ago Toyota built a Midengine hybrid prototype with a v6 rear engine and front hybrid drive.

FWIW, I am also not real keen on the hybrid angle - more cost and complexity, especially given the BRZ's price niche.

Regardless, the relatively rear positioned cockpit doesn't seem to reflect the fact that the car is mid engine.
