    Default Stock Car Driving Experience

Anybody ever done one of these stock car driving experiences on a paved oval?

I found the Rusty Wallace Racing Experience that is putting on an event in Stockton on my birthday. (and a 60% off coupon)

I haven't done one, but I'd jump all over that deal.

At that price, I agree, how can you not have fun?

I've done the one at Irwindale.
It was a dizzy experience. Constant left turn at high g load. I could barely do 10 laps (about 5 minutes)

I have done the Irwindale one a few times.. it's a 1/2 mile short track(?) lots of fun, it's over quick... Not sure it would be as fun a 1.5 mile oval.

I did the Richard Petty one in Las Vegas years ago. Was very disappointing at least in my experience.

Personally, I'd be more disappointed with your barber...

You know, one thing I've noticed about this site is that someone always has something insulting to say. Thanks for not disappointing me.
I'm sure your Helmet hair looks a lot better than mine, but hey, at my age I'm pretty freaking happy just to HAVE hair. Not everyone is so lucky.

Look at the body on that car. It was the 90's. That was a popular look back then.

I'm less interested in beards and hair, and more interested in what was so disappointing about driving a stock car.

When I did the Vegas deal they put us all in cars and sent us around the track behind an instructor. We parade lapped the track at about 130 but never could pass or open it up and feel the car.
At 130 in a super speedway car the cam is still loaping. Felt like going 35 mph on the freeway. It was geared towards folks with no racing experience and I had just come off back to back to back championships....I expected to drive the car like a race car, not like a parking lot tram. For newbys, it must be awesome, for a very experienced driver, it was very disappointing.

At Auto Club Speedway the students come back in and the school people say "Wow! You were doing 170!" I have watched those cars and drivers go around that oval and it is at best 130, but probably slower than that, even in the open wheel cars.

I've read some posts that they give you a certificate that says 170MPH, but in fact fastest you go is around 130MPH ?

lol that's one hell of a scam if that's true.

Can people really not tell the difference between 130 and 170?

Wasn't there a thread about this subject, whereby a member here took GPS data while driving and demonstrated a top speed of 130, but got a certificate for 170?
It's a big scam. They will never have my money.

I'm inferring from this thread that the shorter the track — to a point — the better the experience.

I can see why a business would limit speeds on large ovals like ACS, but those same speeds on a track like Irwindale would be a whole lot more fun.
