    Default Spec Miata Teardown video

This is an excellent look at what it takes to build/tech a SM motor these days. Be warned this is a one hour long video.

Isn't it amazing that their engine passed?

be aware, it is only one hour long, because he fast forwarded most of it. probably a 3-4 hour job.

His engines got hit hard in the DQ department. I think it was short turn radius, not sure if he had whistlegate issues too.

pls explain to ones not on the SM circle.

his engines got DQ'ed, so he made a video, which showed his engine was legal ?
    I am lost.

Making a video demonstrating that one of his customers has a legal engine.

    More transparency helps rebuild trust.

Edit: Also, a video like this is a community service of sorts since up to now we didn't have a video explaining how to inspect an engine for legality.

    "short side radius"?
As in modifying the intake port?
There was a mention of the DQ's in Grassroots motorsports, but they didn't say what it was....

The modification of the short-side radius was most egregious on the exhaust port, just below the permitted legal plunge cuts. It was essentially a blend (not legal, but is now) from the plunge cut to the short side radius of the exhaust port. Now the blend is permitted, but can be no greater in width than 1.5 mm.

The guy measures the blend at 52:19.
