    1. it has a much lower CG because of battery underneath your feet. Tesla S has lower CG than a 911.

    2. lower polar inertia. This is a true mid engine (in spirit, as heaviest part is battery, not motor - which is also in between axle). even a 458 has heavy radiator front of axle, exhaust aft axle. so a Tesla is a truer mid engine than all supercars.

    3. torque - your diesel truck has NOTHING on an EV. not even close

    4. throttle response - even your normally aspirated LS engine has NOTHING on an EV. not even close

    5. Tesla S have unequal control A-Arm (not sure if 3 will), not your typical POS BMW, Mercedes sedans.
That's all very good. But the auditory experience leaves a lot to be desired and driving the machine is less involved (no shifting, no powerband management, etc) and good luck modifying it. And let's not even get into vehicle range, and the rate at which you'll be going through consumables because the S is as heavy as an earth mover. LS motor or electric razor?

The auditory experience is the complete opposite of a v12 roaring down the front straight but it's very nice, especially with people in the car. You also don't walk away from one really wanting more power or really wanting to modify anything.

What scares me is the dealership service. The one here in Palo Alto took a week just to look at the car even with an appointment and another week for a fairly simple service. The service writer was visibly stressed out and said they are triple parked and don't have any extra room. They have 2 years to really grow their dealer network if they want to support 100s of thousands of cars.

Does Tesla have dealers for service only? The purchase is made direct from Tesla right?

They have showroom, mostly in mall to help take orders. They usually have a car and samples of optional parts / colors. They also have service centers. There are a few service center that has verified (used) lot with 20-40 S in stock.

SoCal service isn't that crowded as Norcal.

None of that matters if you can't do more than a few laps on a track.

Again, what was the best Tesla lap time on a know track? So we can compare it to the lesser sports cars
There is a lot of HIDDEN performance potential in this car, but it kind of gimmick too. According to C&D Tesla gurus (surely instructed by Mr Musk) did not allow a full traction control defeat for the magazine test of a P85D on a purpose built snow track.
Also it will be interesting to hook-up 4000 lbs to your Tesla and my lesser [diesel] truck and measure some performance results. Very interesting indeed.

Water pump, fuel filter and pully? If were going to be that liberal with consumables then we should include electric motors ($15,000 a pop?), suspension and so on. All else you listed (except brakes, which the Tesla has) is cheap, even for me, and isn't replaced all that often. No, I was thinking of the most expensive consumable of all: tires. At 4,600+ lbs, the Tesla S will go through tires like wild fire in Southern California. The Tesla S is fast for as long as it has a charge (lulz) and tires, but it doesn't drive circles around all sports sedans when one begins to consider the driving experience. If fast was the most important thing, then no one would like Miatas.

Anyway, I finally found images of the interior of the model 3. It is fantastic. It needs a hud for practicality, but they shouldn't change anything else.
