yup.. it was pretty much immaculate until my uncle jumped a parking curb and hit a block wall lol.. I'm not sure exactly what happened, he must have thought it was in neutral and dumped the clutch or something . Air bags didn't deploy, and the headlights, fenders, core support, radiator, all that stuff is fine. There's a soft dent about as big as a quarter on the hood and the bumper cover got beat up a little bit and the only other thing is the frame horn kinked about 6" back from where the bumper reinforcement and is pushed up a little.. not even something that needs to be pulled on a frame machine. I'll probably fix it and give it to my mom after I track it a few times lol

Would still be cheaper to buy a Miata.

Some people enjoy climbing up an icy incline in dress shoes for the "challenge" it involves.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. When I was younger, I enjoyed doing things "differently".
There was a certain thrill in having the odd-ball car that surprised everyone.

    These days?
I'll take what has better aftermarket support over being "different"... even if my '83 Plymouth Horizon earned it's nickname of the "GTI-Killer".

    These days?
Miata. It's about all I can afford!

there is a miata for sale at the local goodwill warehouse but it's got over 200k miles on it, it's beat up, and they're asking $1700 for it. The beamer is a solid car and an exceptional value even if it has a salvaged title and I think my mom might like it lol.. It's not that it was a gift from my uncle. The insurance company cut him a check for $6200 and the body shop wanted $7600 to fix it. I think the owner of the body shop wanted to total the car, or at least make it appear as a total to my uncle so he could buy it and fix it and sell it.. that would be his normal MO.. I know, I worked for the guy for 5 years and he buys lots of borderline totals with clean titles and fixes and sells them.

So... $6200 car purchased from family member for $1,000.
    Yup. That makes sense.

Enjoy the 540. You definitely got your money's worth... and then some.

PS. If you ever do decide to buy a Miata... might I suggest looking in either the LA or SF bay areas?
You'll have a lot more options than whatever SLO might have.

yeah $6200 and keep the car with a salvaged title or pay $6600 to body shop + my uncle's $1000 deductible..

the owner of the body shop would have paid less and got it with a clean title..

thanks for the heads up lol.. I've been talking to a guy in the valley that's got a complete drivetrain out of a 2011 GT.. wiring, exhaust, fuel pump, accelerator pedal, cooling system.. everything and he's asking a reasonable price.. that would put me at about 10 lbs per hp.. watch out! lol! I've been working on a splitter and under tray that bolt to the main cross member and it seems to make a crazy amount of well distributed down force..

So you're retiring the Crown Vic? Now you are going to build a Mustang powered BMW? Spend your money on track time first and get the driving down. Then figure out what kind of car you want. Run the BMW as is with some good suspension stuff and tires. Handling is more important than HP at this point in your driving level.

It may be a cooler ride too. But people don't move over and let you pass like they do in the Vic... lol

I want a coyote powered crown vic.. it's got sla front suspension with coilovers and rack and pinion steering and metco billet aluminum upper and lower control arms with a watts link and bilsteins in the rear-it already handles good.. and it's got a rubber floor mat, vinyl backseat, and a big ass trunk for all my junk lol it just needs more power and I need to come up with some 11"-12" wide wheels and get some hoosier slicks and I'll be having things lol.. the beamer is cool and a lot more likely to get laid driving it but I don't like stuff I have to worry about thrashing.. I'm hard on stuff.. and besides, I can haul a trailer with a miata on it in my crown vic
