Default Smart helmets - SKULLY AR1

So I stumbled into this tonight, and while its targeted at motorcycle riders, I can see this coming to road racing in the not too distant future.

    SKULLY AR-1

I would love to have a HUD link to a wide angle rear view camera in my car, and/or predictive in my field of vision.

Needed, no, but the cool factor is off the charts. Thoughts?

    $1,500.

This might work for motorcycles or open wheel/cockpit cars, but for tin tops we will need Bluetooth of NFC to external cameras on the A or B pillars.

PS. What to do if the helmet battery goes dead?

Totally agree, but wide angle bullet cameras are dirt cheap now, as are the bluetooth components. For cars with poor visibility (exige, S2K with non-oem hardtop, etc) this is a godsend.

As for battery, I suppose thats akin to asking what if you forget to put gas in the car. I would imagine, given the volume of area you have, it could carry a 2000mh battery minimum for all day use, and beyond that, you could do a magnetic charging cable like the macbook for easy break-away or inductive charging pad in the back and seat headrest. Given what people are already paying for motorsport helmets with carbon fiber shells and integrated comm, there will be a convergence between that and the point where moores law that will probably drive the components down to palatable, I give it 3 years before these start popping up.

If nothing happens and there is no one around why did it not happen?

    I have two concerns.

    1. Some race cars will lose the mirrors to reduce drag.
    2. A lot of new drivers have lost the ability to backup with mirrors as all they ever have used is backup cameras with range sounders.
