Since so many SV red groupers have gone to the dark side (race licenses, W-W), red group is now more of a mixed bag. That includes the occasional shiny-side-down car.

For reference, I just got my provisional license from NASA

I should share my scary off at SOW CW. Flame suit on. I will admit, I screwed up and it was my mistake.

yeah, I know i am extremely lucky. I thought I was gonna roll too. Hence the AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Lesson learned. It all went so fast, my rear got loose after turning in way early going back to straight again then turning again. That was enough weight transfer to get my rear end out of shape and there were 3 turns all coming at once, i honestly didn't know what to do. Proper thing to do was to try and straighten that mess out, but other side of brain said correct it. I guess it was pure luck that the track gods decided not to roll my car that day. Mistake I will not make again. I must admit, I was going too fast for my own good being this was my first time at this track.

no way, if youre not sure of your skills stay with the noobs and take it easy, just try to have fun W/O killing yourself, and more importantly anyone else.. i sadly fall in this group, slow but safe.. id rather track easy and drive myself home.. this has to be ****ty phone call to make...

Please excuse my inexperience here, isnt this just a simple case of over correction gone bad? it didnt really seem very serious at first.. earlier this year i was run off the streets by a crapped out Evo making an illegal pass on a turn, i did fine with it and tried to take it as a learning experience.. but, the dirt was level and stable... although his lack of an apology to me, did cost him a bumper... now hes rockin the primer front end!! im sure that was least $500 in damage... fine by me. and no i didnt touch his car.

Dude carried WAY too much entry speed for that corner (noob move), then panicked + locked the brakes and went straight off. At most tracks that type of mistake would not be a big deal; he definitely got bit much harder than he deserved. Glad he is OK. Willow Springs should fill in that canyon and any others.

There is a lesson here: Always take baby steps. You have to gradually build up speed, lap after lap, while feeling out the car. If you do not have the mental capacity to understand that concept and carry it out when you're behind the wheel, you need to find a new hobby.

I was with extremespeed at that time. Maybe SV had a bunch of offs as well and finally they decided to do something about it.

Sherman's yes, but not so sure about Pure Evo's. The chicane doesn't affect entry all that much.

IIRC, i went off 3 times in that area my first time driving SoW CCW which was also my second track day ever. I was with POC and my instructor from the day before, CW, didn't pull the reigns enough on me - of course it's his fault and not mine.

Seeing ruts like that drive me crazy, how much work is it to grade runoff every once in a while.

I've had issues on that corner, but I was either chasing faster cars on R-compounds and let my ego take over, or lost concentration for a bit after bottoming in the bowl. Luckily for me, I never early apexed it, just got crossed up into the next corner.

The idea for throttle input is "feeding, feeding, feeding" but the more important idea is "looking, looking, looking." Anyone who's driven decently quick on a recce run for a mountain blast learns pretty quickly that you look as far ahead as possible and if you're not sure about a corner, late apex it... not that I've ever driven decently quick on the street.
