Default Red Bull F1 does Willow Springs with Tom Cruise.

It appears that Tom Cruise can drive.

If nothing happens and there is no one around why did it not happen?

Cool to see Red Bull F1 sort of touring America garnering more attention to the 2012 race. They were in TX over the weekend and Coulthard was touring the streets as well as the Circuit of the Americas (not currently pave, just all dirt )

Didn't I mention this last week in the WSIR fast lap thread? A friend of mine worked on the shoot. I'll be working with him today if you have any questions.

Well it says Coulthard hit a top speed of 185mph, which means he was at least somewhat 'on it'.

Track record is what, a 1:06? I would think a modern F1 car would smash that pretty easily...

I was there when they unloaded the car. It was amazing to see such a machine. All you want to do is drive it though.

The Hollywood driving talent pool isn't that deep if you saw the Toyota pro celebrity race it was funny to say the least, that too fast too furious guy... Paul Newman was good back in the day.

Its a publicity stunt, your not supposed to choose the best driver. Cruise comes with lots of controversy, thats a good thing.

Don't forget Steve McQueen. Almost beat Mario Andretti in the 1970 12hrs of Sebring while wearing a cast on his foot.

I think Tom had the souls of alien race car drivers trapped inside his body. that is probably what made him fast.

Now that I think about it. I'm sure F1 made it a point not to have a valid lap time, thats why you put celeb drivers in it. I dont think F1 is as fast as people think it is compared to other top forms of racing both current and historic. They still have rules. F1 has always avoided having a shared course with Indy Car, for example. What would that do to peoples images if the lap times were just a couple seconds different with an old design dallara chassis, general public cant put things in context of rules...
