I've never practiced orthodontia. But would you believe me if I told you I got selected for this?

I leave for Germany in six days (I've just got to work some magic with the passport office).

There used to be a place in Beverly Hills that could turn them around quickly. It's been awhile so I can't remember the name.

You are just the guy they were looking for. I'm sure all the coverage of your car and your garage didn't hurt. I applied, too, and if I couldn't win, I'm glad it was you. Congrats, man. Please post the full details of your trip here on TrackHQ.

Thanks, guys. I was working on my Jeep when a message came in with the header "Thank you for your application for the Porsche Driving Challenge..." I clicked the phone off, because we all know that if someone thanks you for asking, it means you're definitely NOT getting what you asked for.

    But it wasn't the case.

I've got a Monday-morning appointment at the passport agency. According to what I've read, they can do the renewal very quickly when you've got the travel itinerary in hand and all of your supporting documents are in order. Let's hope that's true.

Congratulations Jack. From what I remember, for a "extra fee", they can do a rush order.
But if that doesn't work. You could just go down town by skid row and get one. If fact you can get them with anybody's name or picture
That's not a Typo, I just can't spell no so well.

Yep. But that was a very easy $60 decision to make.

Wow! I am so impressed that this turned out to be "the real deal", and not just some vanity fest for uber wealthy owner/dealers. It really is hard to think of a more interesting and deserving participant, and I can only hope that you can share your experience as much as possible.

btw: If you were an orthodontist, I would use you without hesitation.

btw2: I think most TrackHq guys have seen this video, but it is especially fitting that Patrick Long is also a counter steering master of slant nose Porsches:

Thanks. There's going to be one other winner, according to the rules I read -- so there's a chance that he'll be rich and vain and good at straightening teeth. (I'm just vain.)

The surprising thing about the footage in Chad's car is that (I'm pretty sure) Long had never driven an early 911 before Chad's. He'd driven a mid-80s air-cooled 911, as I understand it, but nothing like those VARA cars. And he drove Chad's car at Big Willow and Chuckwalla, having not driven either of those tracks before. Of course he learns both tracks and a very idiosyncratic version of the 911 in no time at all -- because he's Patrick freakin' Long.

Jack, if you'd be interested in wearing a TrackHQ.com shirt, I'd be happy to send you one free of charge! No pressure. Yes or now is fine. Just throwing it out there.

Most likely all the safety gear will be provided, brand control is always one of the comes up during promotions.
