    Default Paramount Ranch Racetrack

I'm going to have to check this out sometime if I'm ever in the neighborhood. I never heard of this track or even knew there was one there.

I bet some of the old geesers at CalClub remember it. Ask around at one of their events.

Oli's first job was running the telegraph cables to the control tower.

Worth the trip if you're fascinated by Socal road racing history. I went a few years ago and would go again. Pack some sandwiches and walk the track. Much of the track is still visible. Turn #2 and the over/under are in decent shape. It's easy enough to pick out the driving line in most spots, and piece it together in others. Looks like the track had great flow, similar to WSIR and in the setting of LS. Walking it you can almost imagine what it would be like racing there. It's easy to get a nostalgic feeling for a track and era a 1/2 century before our time -- possibly the golden years of racing. It's a shame it had such a brief history before it was shutdown. Had the track survived I'm sure it would be a socal favorite.

This is the site you want to visit if you want to learn more:
    ParamountRanchHome
    Paramount Ranch Today
(and if this stuff appeals to you be sure to spend some time on Tam's website -- great info on riverside and other historic socal tracks too).
