Schumacher at his best. 4s/lap faster than everyone else, in an inferior car. No electronic aids whatsoever.

Excellent view of just how insanely fast an F1 car is -- and keep in mind, this is 1989. They are WAY faster now. Notice it's an H-pattern....crazy:

Montoya, as a rookie in Champ Car, pole lap at Detroit. Unbelievable lap... Pause it at 1:01 and 1:34... unreal:

That Patrese vid is awesome!! I don't know if it is the angle of the camera or if the late 80s F1 cars can handle more lateral Gs. It looks like he was on rails around the corners, more so than the modern F1s cars shown from their intake scoop cam.

It's because the camera is at the driver's eye-level, IMO... Whereas the new cameras are all mounted about 1-1.5ft above the driver's head, and they use a wide-angle lens.

The modern cars actually handle WAY better... the old cars maxed out at little over 3G's, whereas now they get over 5 in some fast corners!

WTF? I admit I only watched the first 1.5 minutes of the video, but the driver in the camera car is getting passed willy nilly and losing ground like crazy.
The deposed former Sheriff of trackHQ . . .

    2006 Porsche 997 Carerra Coupe 6-MT - daily driver
1992 Honda (Acura) NSX 5-MT - classic investment I couldn't resist and occasionally drive
    2004 Honda S2000 AP2 6-MT - track day car
2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR 6-MT - when I need a backseat, 4-doors, or a real trunk, and still want to haul ass . . .

3 of my all time favorite:

Senna running 2 secs faster than teammate Prost in the same car at Monaco, along with his famous "fly high" speech, simply the best! I learned the strong mentality one has to have in being a racing driver.

Why I started driving fast and drifting, I watched this long before Tsuchiya was known in the US:
