Default Oli and Carl/fatBillyBob are at the SCCA Runoffs at Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Here are my four laps of the last day of my four days of qualifying at the SCCA Runoffs at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The last couple of laps were toasted due to yellow flags and a couple cars sitting on the very edge of the track and then the cool down lap.

I landed in 14th of 36 cars today.

It all started for me with a trackwalk. What a cool place! I showed up for qualy the race and skipped practice. My car is running the same and setup the same since leaving California in January. I have had ear break off my steering rack and lost a starter motor and the rest of the year has been gas and oil.
I changed brake pads for Indy but did not even bleed my brakes. Vettes are tough trouble free racecars. Yes my car is under optimized but I'm here to have trouble free fun and just race. And doing things like not tuning for the last horse power or turning up the rpm limiter contribute huge to reliability. I'm near the bottom of the grid but will get more excited for the race and beat my way up the grid a few more places. Races start Friday on SCCA.COM. I'm going fishing tomorrow then race on Saturday. Don't forget about oscar on TrackHQ. He is on the pole in T4 defending his 2016 national championship. The dedication it takes to perform at this level is extreme. Congrats Oscar on pole and best of luck in your race! I'm also sure Oli will finish higher than where he is too... I think Oli's race will be exciting being in the middle of the grid. There will be a turn 1 compression which can either help you or hurt you. I suspect Oli will get by 4 cars right there. Good luck to you both and let's all come home with our cars shiny as they arrived...

FatBillyBob is my kind of guy... We used to love one day Nationals at Laguna before they made the paddock bigger, practice qualify race in one day...

    Best of luck, guys!

Hopefully, the SCCA will make the race video readily available on their website for those of us who can't watch the races real time.

    I'm channeling A.J. Foyt 1967 Indy 500 winner. I'm in his garage 29.

Please share where and what you are fishing for. Racing is great but fishing is a whole different thing. Please share.

Brookville tailwater right out if the town of brookville. Trout and smallmouth on flyrods.

Turned out to be a beautiful spot. Tip is to fish the section from the brookville city park in next to the American Legion. Caught small rainbows which is not bad at this temperature and late in the season. They hit typical calibaetis drys and nymphs

Thanks Carl! My race is Sunday 1:30pm ET. The T4 field is tight. I am hoping for a clean race. T3 was no bueno today in Turn 4.

He is paddocked next to the service elevator (the middle of of five elevators) of the big grandstand closest to Turn One.

Yup! My problems go back to 2016 Mid-O Runoffs where my new engine was a james bond smoke screen so I could not race. That was expensive. Then I rushed to get the builder to rebuild it again and not trusting him I got a 2nd motor built. These are stock LS6 motors nothing fancy. I rushed to get my car ready by December 2016 so my car could leave cali for Majors tour on the East. I have run the whole year on my set-up from Mid-O. Engine ran OK for entire year. All I wanted to do was race at Indy for 2017. I made it here and I had lame qualy at Indy. In the race I was having a great time feeling a good groove I never had during qualy. I passed the black Z06 that did not play nice with me in qualy with no respect, and I left him in the dust. I made a great outside pass on the mustang who was next in the turn where by motor was eventually to blow. I got passed another car at T1 after the fastest part of the track only to come in too hot and had a nice wiggle but saved it and stayed ahead. I was reeling in the next victim an M3 bmw getting closer and closer and then kablamo! All went silent and people in the paddock say my smoke bomb was quite impressive making its way all the way to the pagoda. Well I had fun and accomplished my goals and my motor lasted all year just 3 laps short. My laptimes kept falling as I was getting more comfortable on track. My fastest time was 8/10ths off Qualls time and my time was continuing to fall. People who know how I race would say, "hey Carl looks like he is racing."

OK Oscar, It is all up to you now!
