    Default Now this is different

    A 1969 Intermeccanica Italia

Anyone ever heard of of these before? It uses a American V8/Italian body recipe that's produced a lot of interesting cars (this one included), but I'd never heard of an Intermeccanica.

    Brett -

How old are you? Of course I know what an Intermeccanica is. It is similar in concept to the Mangusta de Thomaso and Pantera.

    Here's a 1966 Mangusta:

I know Panteras, Mangustas and Facel Vegas, but I'd never seen one of these before.

I'll always remember being at a car show with my dad at the convention center in Philadelphia when they fired up a Pantera right there on the floor.

Oh, and I'm 46 and a half, so nyah, nyah, nyah.

I stopped saying "and a half" when I turned 15.

Quiz -- Do you know what this is? Don't just say Ferrari . . .

I don't say "and a half" anymore either. It was just sophomoric attempt at humor.

As for the car, I don't know the maker. It looks like something from a Speed Racer cartoon. Wild proportions. By the badge on the quarter panels, I'm guessing a Pininfarina body?

It's one-off original prototype of the car that became the Dino 206 GT, built by Ferrari. It was shown at the 1965 Salon de Paris. I think headlights are a bit odd, but the last pic that's a rear 3/4 view shows a gorgeous car. I think this car had a name that I don't remember. Middle aged moment. Or is it a senior moment? I do qualify for the senior discount on McDonald's coffee.

Richard is not just older than dirt, he chaired God's committee on the composition of it!

The best thing about this thread is it makes me NOT the oldest person by far
