Default Nissan 370Z - Smaller, lighter, faster

More than 200lbs lighter than the 350Z (at 3,175lbs)
    2.5" shorter length
    4" shorter wheelbase
    1.7" wider
    0.1" lower roofline
    32hp increase (to 332bhp)
10lb-ft of torque increase (to 270lb-ft)

    Hell yea!

Synchro Rev Matching where the engine automatically 'blips' the throttle for you on downshifts (in a manual transmission) giving you perfect rev-matches every time... Hmm, sounds like too much electronics/EBDC at work. Rather than fixing the flimsy pedals, reducing the gap between the brake and gas pedal, we'll just put a sensor in there and blip the throttle for the driver! -What is this, an EVO?

But really, looking at the photos, it looks like a floor-hinged gas pedal (BMW-esque) which would be REALLY nice.

Looks like a fun car, can't wait to drive one!

I can't believe car companies are catering to the complete laziness that is the buying population.
    Do you understand?

Will you be able to turn off that blip crap?

    The rest sounds excellent!

    Default 370 Z

Yes, you can turn off the "blip" as well as the traction control and they moved the brake and gas pedals closer together and as noted the gas pedal is floor mounted now.

    Should be a fun car.

Automatically matching revs? My god...what's next? Synchros so that you can get away with shifting without matching revs properly?

(I can just see enthusiasts from 60 years ago talking about how synchros ruin the purity of the driving experience and let any old hack shift gears)

I saw it at the L.A. car show. Very nice but weight only 100 lbs. less than 350Z, not 200 lbs.

A car company is coming out with a smaller, lighter version of a current car???!?

This makes me cry tears of joy

+1 AND fixed the pedals to a proper floor-mounted throttle pedal and moved the brake pedal closer to the gas pedal.

I hope they also got some weight off of the nose, 55/45 weight distribution of gutted 350z's is terrible.

They wont know what to do with themselves with a proper pedal positioning and floor-mounted pedal. You can't "Mad-asian" that kind of pedal setup. I'm bet they'll hate it, lol.

yes, that's what I need exactly

I've seen Billy shift. he down shifts faster than anyone I've seen IMHO, it is worth 1/2 second. if only I have synchro rev matching I will beat all you clowns.

just got back from SOW (Miata Challenge). a yellow 370Z showed up. but he didn't drive it on track. I was eager to hear how synchro rev matching works.

I drove a G37 recently, it's a big improvement over the G35. In some ways it's better than comparable BMW (in SOME ways...). I expect to say the same about the 370Z/350Z...

Yes, it was a press vehicle, and the driver wasn't positive as to when they would hit the showroom floors. Maybe early 2009 as a 2010 model, same time the too thirsty, too big, too late Camaro bows.

I got to sit in it, and it really feels good. I've driven my brother's 350Z and like the interior, but this one envelopes you far better. The production seats are amazing and the overall trim is classier (stitched leather, etc.).

By the way, congrats to William on winning the Miata Challenge Modified class and running a 1:28.0xx clockwise at SOWS. I eeked out my personal best 1:29.6xx just trying to keep up with him.

Will I ever catch you good sir?

    Looks great in Yellow!

AutoWeek says it is being released on Fall 2009 (as a 2010 model).
