    Default new Polaris Slingshot

what you guys think ? how fast on BW13 ?

    base price of $20k

The 2.4-liter GM Ecotec four sits up front, channeling 173 horsepower and 166 pound-feet of torque through a five-speed manual transmission and carbon-reinforced drive belt to the solitary rear wheels. In true motorbike-manufacturer style (where pace depends mostly on the rider), Polaris hasn't revealed performance specs. But in a package weighing just 1,700 pounds,

I think regardless of performance, it still looks ridiculous.

"through a five-speed manual transmission and carbon-reinforced drive belt to the solitary rear wheels."
Shouldn't that be "solitary rear wheel."?

Looks promising, I wonder if it blows up if you put race tires on it.

No, even better. When you put race tires on it transforms into a Miata.

Looks fun and fast, but it is heavier than it looks (10hp/lb.) and is not as good looking as earlier news releases.

It's a slowpoke Ariel Atom with one rear wheel, and ugly bodywork, and looks dangerous as $h!t . . . Good luck with that.

The true guarantee of success! If Richard hates it, it's bound to sell better than seal clubs in the Arctic.

Ariel Atom base price is $50k with 210whp and 1,400LB.
but this isn't street legal, you need to jump through some hoops.

Polaris Slingshot is $24k with 170whp and 1,700LB.
    this is street legal motorcycle.

    KTM X-Bow starts at $90k

I'd throw one in the garage and let the neighbors play with it if I already had all the toys I want, but not something I'd be caught dead in driving.

    signed, Miata driver

That's a bucket full of nope from me, this thing is only good as a single occupant carpool legal vehicle since it most likely falls legally to the same category as bikes.
Bikes do alright with a single rear wheel and body roll because they have a tire with round cutout.
Swing arm rear suspension three wheeler wants to lift the contact patch of the rear tire every time the body rolls, unless they came up with some mechanism that will allow the rear suspension to also twist longitudinally as well, which might explain why this thing is so heavy.

This architecture was never a good idea, not even after WWII.

The Morgan is epically awesome, though. I want one. And machine guns mounted on the hood.

My very first track day was big willow, I was in a bone stock Miata, no roll bar, rented helmet, and I could look over the windshield... First session of the day some guy barrel rolled in turn 9... freaked my wife out, she was "talking" about me packing it in and head home.

After the dust had settled and they towed one of those 3 wheeled Morgans in, She looked at it, turn to me and said, "of course it rolled..."

For 2-3x the price, slower, no ability to lane split, and generally less fun -- and with the same level of impracticality for tasks like picking up groceries.

I guess if you buy one, you can hang out with the other geriatrics who think Can-Am Spyders are cool.
